BOTH my interviews went really well!! I think anyway.

but I'm faced with a conundrum about the jobs.

JOB.1. SALES COMMISSION.
Now, I thought this was some admin stuff, but REALLY. It is me (or me paying a telemarketer) to find people in the phone book, who want a new website. Then making an arrangement to see said people and convicing them to agreee

do you like working in hell? Commission based jobs are for suckers. Take the QA/QC job if it's offered.

Nothing on this earth would convince me to take the commission job. I nearly walked out of a group interview when I found a job I was applying for was commission-only.

Job one sounds more like a SCAM. Avoid it. Who the fuck rings people to ask if they want a website???!!!

Until I ASKED "where do you get the numbers from?"

he replies "oh its very interesting actually, some people have told me the best way is to look through the yellow pages..etc"

I was under the impression that they had ACTUAL clients.

Job one sounds like a high turnover soul destroying job where you will be copping a lot of abuse from people who don't want to talk to you. Also, there is no progression. You are basically being paid to spam people, and there is no risk for your employer since it is commission based.

Job two sounds like a job where you will learn skills that can be applied to move up some sort of ladder (whether at that place or elsewhere). You probably are starting at the bottom but there is at least some sort of way out/up.

yeah, those were my thoughts too.

i really don't think I'd be good at commission/abuse people until they sign over money jobs because I don't like annoying people if they are not interested.

I mean, I like to annoy people (jacqui in particular)

What in the bloody hell. I am sorry for wasting your time. I have been telling him for years to cut out this commission only bullshit because it leads to shit staff who dont' give a crap once the contract has signed, poor customer service and a really shit time for the rest of the staff dealing with all the problems.

If I'd known he was pulling commission only stuff and would still tell you it is telemarketing after he came across like he would put up a position as a content coordinator like the girls here (who get paid an hourly casual rate and do a great job)

Besides, Kew is REALLY close to Richmond (where my 2nd interview was) so it wasn't much out of my way
