Erica's talk with Puck hasn't exactly inspired moving on. It was a back and forth, Erica not wanting to sound horrible and ungrateful when he was right. She has her baby. But she still has those three babies she can't stop thinking about. And then there are John's.

John doesn't mean to sneak up, he just has a real quiet tread; it's saved his life more times than he knows. So he might startle her when he says.

"Considering your old man found this in his sock drawer, and plain forgot to give it to your mom, you better look for a new one of those first."

There is a long thin box, in gold paper with a black ribbon in his hand.

She does jump a little, then lets out a little breath. "Well. I don't blame you. We were preoccupied, weren't we, Madeline?"

She picks up a now sweet smelling baby, then goes to the living room, putting her in her swing and turning it on low.

Then she finally turns to John, spit up on her shoulder, hair in a lopsided ponytail.

"That for me?" she asks with a little smirk.

"Yes, and it was supposed to be given to you at a romantic dinner, with wine and candles," He sighed, "but I wouldn't have wanted to miss meeting the kids." A little of the loss he's feeling leaks onto his face.

He hands her the box.

"May I owe you the romantic dinner?"

In the box is a necklace.

She opens the box, and her jaw drops a little. "John, this is beautiful. God, I love it."

Erica gestures at herself. "I'm not exactly dressed for a romantic dinner anyway," she says with a little smile.

"Thank you for the present."
