Thanks so much, Chic. Tonight I'm celebrating with the family. My sister-in-law, who makes and decorates gorgeous cakes, is hosting. She just bought this cookbook, Cakes of the 50 States, so she asked me to choose (without knowing the flavors of each state!) I picked NY, since I was born there, which gave me the option of cheesecake or red velvet. I do love cheesecake but I order it often when I go out, so she's making red velvet, which I've never had before. So now I just hope I like it. But then again, I don't think I've ever tasted a cake that I haven't loved, and after all it is red--my favorite color.
