You know that when you don’t fully deal with / grasp something Our Father brings the same situation but slightly different back again… Well here we are again, asking the same question but still not sure of the answer. And the nature of that question? Our relationship to and part in the body ( Read more... )

Scary. I'm a pastoral deputy in a school in Scarborough. I teach English. My Husband is an artist. I am not criticising any particular body of christians- when I say church, I mean me, us, everybody.

It is a question I ask- about goths and church because we have such a focus on evangelism- to give it the label. When we talk to people, there is a desire to take them somewhere- where do we go?

The theology of the real sounds good- if we are confident in God, he can cope with us asking questions. Even difficult questions.

So what do you do about church? How do you square the school/goth thing?

I survive with my teacher alter ego- My other half often claims not to recognise me if we meet after work.

The kids are fine except on the rare occasion when when one bounces up to me in a goth club. The first time it happened I freaked a bit but apparently corsets and PVC mini skirts can do wonders for your street cred.

I have been a goth a lot longer than I've been a teacher, so it has always been part of the package. I think I do a good line in eccentric english teacher at work and people forgive your dress sense if you're good at your job.

Prob, because I don't dress down for churchy things life has been a little different. Also, I have a bit of a conformity problem. If I feel someone is trying to put me in a box I struggle and want to do what I can to break out of it.

I've read a lot of discworld ones. Funny and perceptive. The problem with seeing things how they are is that most people are rather you didn't! Or maybe that's just me.

I like the DAS song you refer to Violet *G*

I do like Chinese carrot sculptires I have had at when I have had a nice night out *G*...is art a waste...is not creativity itself a spiritual expression?

I think I might know a little bit about the idea of going around in circles *frown*
