WTF?????????? I didn't see your last pictures, so this is my first look at the squabbit!!! LOLOLOL That is so eerie! I bet he is more challenged when it comes to balancing! Poor little guy! Even in the animal world they pick on the oddballs!! He's cute though!!! XOXO!!!

My other pics were terrible cuz this little guy was very elusive and wouldn't come close at all, but like magic he decided to grace my backyard. I even saw him within feet of my front door too but couldn't get any decent pics through the storm door glass. LOL

I searched a little on the internet and found two articles that say a squirrels tail will break away if a predator catches them by the tail. Kind of like a lizard I suppose. Never saw one like this though. Seen some with half tails but never NONE. :) Apparently the squirrels use their tails for defense from attacks by hawks or whatever (hawk gets the tail but not the squirrel) and also as a rudder to steer them when they leap from one tree to another. I guess this little one won't be leaping. I hope this stupid hurricane off the coast doesn't come in and blow him out of a tree. :(

Those pictures are amazing. You got them so close, and no blurry ones t ospeak off. Well done
Thank you for sharing it with us. It's lovely!!!!!!!!

I am glad to see he seems happy though, even with no tail.
He must have some trouble with balance though.

Thanks Lindy! He was not the best subject to photograph cuz he is so skiddish, but he did sit still for some pretty good shots. LOL Teeheehee... he was out there getting more treats this morning when I let the dog out. I suppose I will have to adopt him and make sure he gets lots to eat to keep him through the winter. :) He looks rather skinny to me.

He climbs pretty good but I read where they use their tails for balance especially when leaping from tree to tree so I imagine this little guy would have trouble with that.

Hahahaha He was quite a challenge to get a good picture of, but he sure gave my camera an eye full yesterday!!! I hope he makes it through the winter okay. Plus, we have that damn Hurricane off the coast and I don't want him blown out of the trees. It's not suppose to hit us directly but we are to get high winds and lots and lots of heavy rains. :(

I hope he has a hiding place for himself for this period! Otherwise they mostly coming towards the houses even to hide when they need it!
I only can imagine how stressful it is probably to live in a "land of hurricanes" ((((((((HUG))))))))

It's weird cuz the spiders on my front porch are acting strange today. Usually you only see them at night but today they have their webs out and are staying in the center of the web. I only see their webs at night and they usually take them down during the day. One has even attached himself to my front door in a kind of web sling. I should get picks of them. :) Maybe they are getting ready for the winds and rains.

So Cute!!! Great pix!!
I have a Manx cat, and the other cats don't like her as much, I think, because she can't communicate as well as a tailed cat with them - they can't understand her! That's probably why the other squirrels don't like him... :-(

I was just filming this little one again. I think it might be a little girl. I swear I could watch him/her forever. Along came another one with a bushy tail. About the same size and ran off little "No Tail". It was definitely a male and all I could think was one day "Mr. Bushy Tail" might want some tail from "Miss No Tail" and she's gonna remember him being mean to her and say "Heck No!". LOL *pulls mind out of the gutter*

I love the last one....so cute. We have so many baby squirrels around right now, they are mostly black ones, they are very pretty though, I'll have to put some treats out and see if I can get close enough to take a photo.

Yes, get some pics. We don't have any black ones around here. Most look like the ones above. Occasionally we have the reddish sandy colored ones too.
