Kitties, Kitties and More Kitties Die Tomorrow

The kitty situation at Coweta Animal Control, GA is beyond out of control. Last week over 125 came into the shelter. Today another 25 came in. The shelter says they will put down all of these at noon tomorrow, June 20th. Anyone wanting to adopt/Rescue must get there early.

Those cats are beautiful. I feel totally helpless :(

I know Lindy! We don't even rescue cats but now we do... LOL There are just so many that are dying needlessly. Got to try to help them anyway we can.

People make me sick. They are dumping dogs, puppies, cats, kittens by the hundreds and we can't keep up. :(

I guess each one saved is a success but sure wish we could save them all.

A few weeks ago someone found puppies in the underground garbage bins over here. They were only a few hours old.
Luckily they found out who did it and reunited the pups with the mom a few hours later. The mom was SO HAPPY to have the babies back, she was "glowing"
That story made me cry. I am so sensitive to animals.

Oh good lord. Poor babies. Glad it had a happy ending. That is kind of like the mama dog recently that was brought in as a stray and we knew she had nursing pups but the damn Animal Control Officer wouldn't release her back where they got her. This was on a Friday right before the Memorial Day (3 day) weekend.

Thank goodness, a kind person found her babies and tended to them and reunited them with her at the pound on Tuesday. Just in time for her and her babies to go on a puppy rescue we helped coordinate. :)

Sometimes things just work out RIGHT!!!

Isn't it a shame Jodi! Can you believe people are dumping so many and this is just one shelter we work with. It's like mass slaughter for them and the dogs too right now. I was warned that puppy and kitty season would be terrible but I had no idea it would be this bad.

I'm sure this is happening all over the Country. Just a crying shame. :(

I'll update once we know how many we can rescue tomorrow.

Thank you Carrie!!! Every little bit helps!!! Joan is taking a lot upon her self trying to save these kitties! She's a beautiful person! We are so happy to have her with us at DRDR!!! :) I think we might have to change our name to Death Row Dog & Cat Rescue! LOL

Girl, we've had no choice but to branch out. We've always rescued kitties here and there but lately we've rescued many!!! They just keep pouring into the shelters. Most are only babies. :(

Thanks my Erika!!!! You know I loves ya!!! I guess you see now why I have no life other than trying to save these animals. I'll be glad when summer is over and the animals in need slow down a wee bit.

Some of those I actully get fuzzy over and I'm not a cat person as you know lol So why does it slow down in the summer? Spring is just a really active season for all critters?

Spring and early summer is puppy/kitten season. You know the birds and the bees get involved. Then during the summer people decide they are having too much fun or want a vacation so it's let's dump the family pet(s)! :( Scary, cuz someone told me 4th of July is a big time for people to dump their animals. What? They can't get drunk and celebrate when they have animals? Crazy!!!

Glad some of them made you feel fuzzy all over!!!!! LOL
