Title: Dil Tujhko Hi Maanda
Notes: This is based entirely off a fanfiction I have written for the Hindi serial, the entirety of which can be found
here.
tum bin jaoon kahaan (original) | tum bin jaoon kahaan (female)
tumhaare liye mera dil bekraar hai,
tumhaare liye mera dil bekraar hai,
mujhe sirf tumse, haan tumse pyaar hai.
part one | har taraf tu hi
dur mujhse na jaana,
main toh jee na sakunga.
jaan se badhke hai tu,
meri jaan tu jaan le.
'How much has changed in just one year,' Heer thought to herself, grinning slightly as she spotted Harman unsuccessfully trying to steal some of Meher's food. Her gaze landed on Prem's photo, and her heart ached in longing.
'Kahan ho tum Prem? Bas teri kami hai yahan. Vaapas aajao Prem.'
part two | aadat
chahat aisi hai yeh teri,
barr thi ja-ay.
aahat aisi hai yeh teri,
mujh ko sata-ay.
yaadein gehri hai itni,
dil doob ja-ay.
"Preet, shayed PB India mein nahin hai," Harman voiced something that had been bothering him for awhile. They had scoured the major cities in India extensively before searching the more obscure parts, but to no avail. "Maybe we should broaden our scope."
part three | lambi judaai
khoye rahi mein,
saason mein apne.
aahat bhi teri,
bhool gaye hun.
As soon as it had come, the image was gone, leaving him to wonder if he had imagined it. It wasn't the first time he had seen this girl in these short flashes. She invaded his dreams as well.
part four | sajna aa bhi ja
palko pe khwab sajana,
aankhiyon se neend churana.
roothe piya ko haske mana na,
yeh haqeeqat hai ya ke fasana.
She'd wanted to wait until they'd found Prem, and she would officially be Mrs Heer Prem Juneja, but days had stretched into weeks, and weeks into months, and she'd end up sleeping in the room anyways, wrapped in one of Prem's shirt, trying to feel closer to him.
part five | ab na jaa
tumhi se hai meri neende,
na bhi ho toh kya.
tumhi se hai meri baatein,
na bhi ho toh kya.
kehne doh taaro ko kahaani ankahi,
na jaa abhi.
His gaze fell on a man walking amongst the crowd, who seemed to be looking earnestly for something, or maybe someone. A flash of sudden recognition shocked him. He furrowed his eyebrows as he tried to figure out where he'd seen the man.
part six | tujhe yaad na meri aayi
tujhe har khushi de di.
labon ki hasi de di.
zulfon ke ghata lehrayee.
paigaam wafa ke layee.
He sighed before coming to the conclusion that he had nothing much to go on considering he had no names and addresses, just faces and impressions. He'd have to let destiny take its course, but he could only hope that it led him to her.
part seven | maahi
jud ke bhi tu mujhse juda sa,
milke bhi tu kyun hai khafa sa.
aaja meri bahoon mein aaja re.
dil roye ya ilahi tu aaja mere maahi.
He remembered now, that this was the woman whom he loved more than anything, whom he had waited for all his life. He remembered why she meant so much, he knew why he had loved her even as he did not remember her.
part eight | hum hai iss pal yahaan
hum jahaan aaye hai,
meherbaan saaye hai.
hum yahaan khwabon ke,
karwaan laaye hai.
She started in surprise when instead of cloth and wood her hands covered a pair of warm, soft and heart wrenchingly familiar hands. Her fingers tightened, almost of their own accord, around that other pair. The familiarity and comfort of the feel of their skin brushing against one another brought tears to her eyes. His fingers curled upwards around her tinier hands, and finally, he looked up.
part nine | maahi ve
dil na toote,
khuda ka yeh ghar hai.
tere sajde mein,
mera yeh sar hai.
"Goodbye Sanjana," and there was such a note of finality in his voice that Sanjana realised she might have just lost her best friend.
part ten | bheegi bheegi
na jaane koi,
kaisi hai yeh zindagani,
zindagani,
humari adhoori kahaani.
Preet was brought out of his thoughts by Harman's sudden halt. Looking at his brother, who was staring slack-jawed at something, he followed his gaze. He mouthed 'PB' silently as he saw the figure that had stunned Harman into stillness.
part eleven | iss pal
tum bata doh yaad koi,
ya puraani leke aao.
ya nishaani leke jao,
ya kahaani leke jao.
Their story had reached full circle; they had come back to where it all had begun.
part twelve | tujh mein rab dikhta hai (male&female)
tu hi dhoop,
tu hi chaaya.
tu hi apna,
paraya.
aur kuch na jaanu main,
bas itna hi jaanu.
tu hi dil ki hai raunak,
tu hi janmon ki daulat.
aur kuch na jaanu main,
bas itna hi jaanu.
She handed him the thick paper, the words still visible after all these years. She bade him good night and left the room.
He took in their names as they were written on the card, and looked in the direction Heer had just gone.
part thirteen | meelon ka
pura deewana,
main ho gaya hoon.
paya tumhe toh,
main kho gaya hoon.
He smiled, and went down on one knee, holding out one hand towards her, reminiscent to the way he had over a year ago, only, this time, there were no tears and no words. Just a silent promise, and quiet happiness as Heer slipped her hand into Prem's.
