If US agriculture switched to organic cultivation, hundreds of millions of people around the world would starve to death. The only hope to feed the growing world population is biotech.

If the US didn't use most of the crops grown on its soil to either feed livestock or grow livestock, the land could be used to grow crops that feed people and a lot less people would starve. Check out the Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan and Harvest for Hope by Jane Goodall. Both of those books opened my eyes.

I read about this on the OCA web site yesterday. On the surface, this guy seemed alright at first (I admit I didn't read up on him but relied on what others had said). whenever I see Monsanto, though, I have to question everything! LOL! A lot of the other stuff troubles me too. It's been proven time and time again that people do NOT want genetically modified crops, people want GE crops to be labeled as such so they can avoid them, yet there's no requirement to do so. It also bothers me that food is irradiated and is supposed have the radura symbol on the packaging and it does not. We need someone at the top of the Dept. of Agriculture who cares about the people and the farmers and the environment, not someone who takes money from the big boys to do their bidding. Then again, who's gonna tell the big cattle feed lots to clean up their act, or go away altogether? Who has balls that big? Ok, now I'm mad again! Thanks! ;-)
