Recently, Takumi-kun bought food and had it delivered for my first day of stageplay, then I thank him through mail. -- Mashima-san, how is the taste of coffee and scone made by Kitamura-san?
Mashima : It’s been a while since we met, then he give handmade scone and coffee…what an interesting project you have here (laughs) but it was delicious

-- After the drama ended, are you interested in each other work?
Takumi : I watched “Ossan’s Love”. I was like “It was watasaku a while ago…”, I watch it through saku’s point of view, which I’m the only one who can do that in Japan (laughs)

Takumi : It was. I never thought I can watch something with this kind of feeling.
Mashima : I also watched news and promotion for “OVERDRIVE”. You were quite lovey-dovey with Mackenyu-san right? I noticed that (laughs)

Mashima : it’s like “Hmm~ you guys are so close” (laughs) well I knew that you guys are close.
Takumi : we watched each other work with a strange point of view (laughs)
-- Even though It’s been almost 5 months since the drama ended, but we still received request to get Masahima-san as a guest for Kitamura-san’s segment. That’s how deep the impression of this drama to all the viewers. How do you feel about this drama?
Mashima : How should I say…I have the image of warm peaceful atmosphere for this drama. don’t you think so?
Takumi : Yes, the drama site was filled with warmth.
Mashima : Yes not only the drama site, our character for this drama is also calm and gentle. On the contrary, when I went to “ossan’s love” after this “Tonari no Kazoku”, you can say we “attack” each other (laughs) I have to keep on my toes (laughs)
Takumi : I can feel while watching it. Like you need to be cautious…
Mashima : Yes yes (laughs) I can relax a bit for “Tonari no Kazoku”. It was really peaceful.
-- Have you ever re-watched your work in the past?
Takumi : For me, surprisingly I re-watched “Suzuki-sensei”, the drama i did when I was in 7th grade.
Mashima : You did?! why?
Takumi : I like the drama itself, and also it was when I was in 7th grade and I started to like acting since then.
Mashima : it’s like your starting point?
Takumi : Yes it is. That’s why I’d re-watch it when I’m at loss in acting. I was so bad in it but it stimulated me in some way.
Mashima : I see. My old self huh… But isn’t it a bit tough to watched your old video?
Takumi : it is tough (laughs) like “urghhh~~~~~”
Mashima : yes you will feel that way
-- When you said “tough”, is it toward your own acting?
Mashima : It might be different on each person, but for me it was like “Who is this terrible actor?!”
Takumi : for me, of course I think my acting was bad, but I would feel tough also because at that time even though I was only a 7th grader, i would gather with other actor and talked about acting like a pro…when I looked back I was like “Uwaaaaaaa~~~~~” (laughs)
Mashima : Ahahahahahaha
Takumi : like “I’m a natural type”, how can i say it with that kind of acting?! (laughs) it was so embarassing.
Mashima : Even though you were just a 7th grade (laughs)
-- Mashima-san, have you re-watched your old work?
Mashima : I re-watched it only when I need to. For example, if director asked me “Do it like you did in this drama”. But it was tough to re-watched it so honestly I don’t want to do it at all (laughs)
-- Both of you are very busy, but is there anything you do to keep fit?
Mashima : I’m not doing anything at all. That’s why starting from this year I’m trying to move my body.
Takumi : You’re doing balance ball right?
Mashima : Yes yes, that’s where I started.
Takumi : Yes, there’s a balance ball at “Tonari no kazoku” site.
Mashima : I tried to do it but I couldn’t at all. I thought I have some strength at my torso… that’s when I motivated myself to work out a little bit. What makes me frustrated is Nomaguchi-san is really good at it
Takumi : He’s always on that balance ball (laughs)
Mashima : I don’t know why I was frustrated when he said “It’s so easy” and keep doing that balance ball (laughs) So I bought one and doing it at home. Now I’m getting better at it.
-- How about Kitamura-san?
Takumi : Quite a while ago I gathered with my friends in the morning to play basketball. But now I couldn’t go. Oh and I’m running as well. I not the type who can continue doing work out….
Mashima : But when we start shooting for “tonari no kazoku”, I asked about gym to takumi-kun right?
Takumi : Yes, because it was when I started to work out for my role in “OVERDRIVE”. Then Mashima-san said you start to go to the gym as well.
Mashima : Yes yes. It’s not that I trained because i wanted to have a bulky body, I just want to do it to exercise a bit. But then since I’m really a beginner I want to know how it’s like. So I asked you.
-- Both of you continuously getting a new drama/movie and have to act in different role, did you do something special to concentrate from one role to another?
Mashima : Takumi-kun is good at answering that kind of questions (laughs)
Takumi : No…(wry smile) but in this 1-2 years, there’s work that overlap with each other, and on top of that I have band as well, so I’m in a condition where I have to naturally be able to concentrate from one work to another. For me, I really treasure the time I spend at my room. For example, watching movies, or doing something completely different from the genre of work I was doing at that time. I consciously doing something different.
Mashima : See? He said a lot of phrase that is easy to make into article right?(laughs)
Takumi : Whose point of view is that? (laughs)
Mashima : If I were answer the same question, it would be something like “I do it cuz I have to do it” (laughs) because I didn’t do something special.
-- How about something you do at home for a change?
Mashima : It’s just normal stuff. Like I’ll read a book if I feel like it, or maybe watch movie. The time I spend at home is just like cleaning, taking care of my dog, or just staring into space.
-- There’s some people who cook to refresh them self.
Mashima : I can do some simple cooking… but I’ve never baked a scone before (laughs)
Takumi : It’s my first time today (laughs)
Mashima : I’m like this, so I’ll leave all the difficult questions to takumi-kun (laughs)
-- It was announce that the drama “Tonari no Kazoku wa Aoku ni Mieru” will be released in DVD box. And the un-aired kiss scene will be one of the bonus.
Takumi : it was the most intense kiss I’ve ever done in my whole life (laughs)
Mashima : I just completely leave everything to takumi-kun to take the lead (laughs)
-- There’s a lot of request from viewer to do spin-off of “watasaku”. Which one is better, the one year in between your first meeting to the time you live together, or the story after both of you decided to sign the partnership?
Takumi : But that one year went smoothly right? [it was stated on the dialog that it went smoothly]
Mashima : Yes. If that’s the case then after story would be better. We talked about it during shooting, that wataru will send saku to university. Then saku might want to study overseas.
Takumi : But when he goes to university, saku get carried away and start looking at other things. Even though wataru pays for his study, saku is playing around, he became a bad guy (laughs)
Mashima : (laughs) it’s possible. Or maybe other story like they adopt kids. We can think a lot of different things that will happen to them, so if we were doing a spin-off, after story would be better.
-- Then if you were to co-star in other work, what kind of setting would it be?
Mashima : From our age, we can actually be father and son, right?
Takumi : It’s true. Our first co-star was a goverment officer and student [Uso to Koi in 2004], second time was couple. Then last one is father and son (laughs)
Mashima : That or maybe I can be takumi-kun’s stalker (laughs)
