Power and absence of inhibitions, more marked in the child than in the father, in absence of physical damage- the carbonite preserved the youth for the necessary time, freeing him like an injured, blind nimal to the brooding touch of Darth Vader, who, at this time, wasn't anymore just a figure in the Imperial Pantheon, but the Head of it.
It's not like his father hasn't tried to seduce him to the Dark Side, or that his father needed him to become a Sith, now. There won't be an Apprentice, now, not for all the love that still haunts Darth Vader (or is it vanity, to love your child just because it reminds you of yourself?). Not if Luke is to have the throne as a right. Luke absorbes the dark Side like a part of himself ieft over by life. He's not cruel or vane or too dictatorial. He has the security of proven systems, and the future is all in his hands.
