The new V premiered last night. Did anyone watch it? Was it any good? Will it soil or polish my quarter-century old memories of the original?

Too soon to tell. They really ought to have aired 2 hours to launch. But it wasn't terrible.

Was it a thinly veiled allegory about Barack Obama? There's some on-line chatter to that effect.

Wha? I didn't get that from it at all. I can't imagine what people see in it that has anything to do with Obama.

I really don't remember the original at all (I know I watched it, but I don't remember a damn thing) so I don't know how it compares. I enjoyed it, but as princeofwands one 42-min episode isn't really much to go on to know how good/bad it will be!

I finally watched the cast of Firefly, Dollhouse, Lost, The 4400, and Smallville refugees. I agree that it wasn't terrible, but it was pretty much just forty minutes of exposition.
