I don't remember if I posted any time recently that I checked out "Religion For Dummies" from the local library, but in case I didn't, I did, and I just finished reading all I wanted to of it. (I read several chapters and skimmed other parts.) I'm not sure if my original intention in learning about religion was really to become religious so much as ( Read more... )

Maybe you should just create your own religion, like Mr. Quinn did with all his "Quinnisms". It could be "Douglasism" or something.

My parents are both Taoists- my dad in particular knows a great deal about the philosophies and such, and if you ever want to talk to him about it, I'm sure he'd be down (and philosophy is exactly what it is.....it's more a philosophy for living than a religion). As for myself, you're probably aware by now that I'm Agnostic.....I neither believe or disbelieve in a divine power. Rather, I just leave the matter be and focus on the tangible parts of my life (everything else around me)! I personally don't think human beings are intelligent enough creatures to know what the reasons behind "life" and "creation" are. We've spent thousands of years theorizing, putting a whole lot of 'faith' into ideas and books, etc. when it's all really just conjecture and speculation in the end. Gigantic wars the world 'round have been waged on the grounds of what is ultimately religious speculation. So personally, I don't buy it. LoL Humans have always been, and I think always will be very self-centered creatures- we once thought the Earth was flat, and ( ... )
