Boy, this religion thing gets harder and muddier every time I think about it. Too bad I can't be one of those lucky prophets who just suddenly have revelations about these things! (haha

I don't think participating in a particular religion automatically disregards all the beliefs of other religions. Take islam for example: that third book of the bible (whatever it's called), just because I'm Catholic doesn't mean I think it didn't happen, I just don't study it. And by becoming religous you don't have to take on all of the beliefs in that faith, just the big ones (in my opinion). As for what will compel you to choose one religion over another, learn about all three prophets. Which one strikes you as the most significant? I guess since they all have pretty similar central ideas, it comes down to the way they worship. And I wouldn't research this through books, they best way to see how a religion is carried out is to go see it yourself. Find a synagoge (I spelled that horribly, didn't I?), find a rabbi, ask questions. Meet a muslim person, ask questions, observe. Then decide.
its awsome that ur trying to find religion and what u believe. sorry this will probably have lots of typos. christianity and islam both belive in God but not the same God. christianity is validated by the fact the Jesus came down and sacrificed himself on the cross, while islam believes in the prophet mohammed. both religions belive in one god but not the same one because christianity says that there is only one son therefore cancelling out the divinity of any other prophet and islam believes in the divinity of mohammed cancelling out the divinity of jesus. therefore its not the same God because both religions call on the divinity of only one. hope that didnt confuse you
Actually, from what I've read, it is the same god, and Allah is simply the name that Muslims use for YHWH (I actually think it's from the Arabic word "al-ilah", "the god" or something like that). In Islam, neither Mohammed nor Jesus is divine; they're simply prophets, and Mohammed isn't worshipped like Jesus is. Muslims actually see the Trinity as a sort of idolatry since the Islamic shahadah says "There is only one God, Allah, and Mohammed was his prophet." :) Not trying to be argumentative or anything, but that is just what I have read.
