The people in Chengdu have yet to learn any sort of elevator boarding etiquette. Every day when I get out of the elevator at lunchtime there are dummies who, as you aptly put it, "charge ahead blindly" the second the door opens only to backpedal when they realize that (surprise!) there are people getting out of the elevator on their way to lunch.

After spending a month in London, the lack of escalator etiquette in the States drives me crazy. But that might be a city thing, not a London thing.
