The Maldives were long a sultanate, first under Dutch and then under British protection. They became a republic in 1968, three years after independence. Tourism and fishing are being developed on the archipelago.

I'm a long time reader of Nux_Vomica's who she graciously let stay on after the unpleasantness which compelled her to limit access to her journal. When I discovered her journal was gone I thought of you since I always enjoyed reading your posts on Nux_Vomica's journal.
I'm really glad you found the new entry interesting. I've never illustrated one to that degree before. I'm thinking of going back and doing maximum illustrations on all my old posts too. In your opinion do you think I will need do LJ cut on my future posts if I continue the extensive illustrations?
