I like how you captured the mix of purity/youth and naivete/lack of awareness of the crap that surrounding her, if that makes any sense. (The title really does capture both aspects)

That said, you shifted tense halfway through.

“Someday,” she whispered to the rose over the gate in a soft promise, “someday this will lead me to you. I just have to keep living with high ideals. I just have to keep living, trying to reach you,” she grins at the school inside the gate, the tower keeping watch over the grounds

Everything before the first is in past, and everything after it is in present... Afff I only noticed because I do it CONSTANTLY myself. :P
