This was the problem of having a young lover, a young beautiful lover. Viktor watched Kraven get dressed, the boy was leaving again. Speaking hurriedly as he darted around their shared chamber,
“I promised I’d meet my friends tonight for a few hours, it’s just one caf Viktor then I’ll be back and we can do something I promise.” Then with a pass by kiss to his cheek Kraven was gone, the sound of his car pulling away could be heard a few minutes later.
Then before dawn Kraven would return, goofy smile on his face, cloths rumpled and still chatting as if everything was just fine, as if there had been no plans between him and Viktor.
“After I saw Christopher you’ll never guess who I ran into! Peter and his group! We had to stop for a drink and we started chatting, the next I knew it was too late to meet you and by the time I returned home I was so exhausted because after the drink we stopped for a bite to eat then on the way home we saw this movie I’ve been dying to see then afterwards we ended up going for a walk through the city! It was great you should have been with us.”
Then as if realizing what he’d just said the boy would always add, “I’m sorry Viktor it was just I was having so much fun… tomorrow I promise we’ll go out, just you and I, Okay?”
At first it was understandable, Kraven was so much younger, more attractive, had the annoying habit of drawing others to him; he was charming, could be courteous when he wanted, flirted and laughed and of course just oozed sex! Who wouldn’t want to be with him?
At first Viktor tried to understand why the boy stood him up after all why would Kraven want to be with an old man when he had younger, prettier people to be with. Viktor would smile, nod and agree after all the boy had just said the next night they would spend time together, right? This thought left the elder smiling fondly before falling asleep. Viktor awoke to an empty bed once more, wet towels in the bathroom and yet another hastily written note to him.
"I'm just going to meet Mikhail for an early first meal; I'll meet you at City Park at midnight and we'll do something!”
Viktor would sigh, keep him self busy, rearranging his schedule yet one more time, hoping the boy would keep his word but after waiting two hours at the park, after having fed every blasted pigeon the elder gave up and returned to his duties.
This was straining the older vampire's patience, why was Viktor the one to wait. Why was he the one to be put off time and again, was he not equally worthy of Kraven’s attention? Had he not spared the boy after the conspiracy? Did he not keep Kraven clothed, housed, bought him trinkets, welcomed him to his bed?! And this was the way he was treated in return?
Now after weeks of this behavior it was becoming infuriating. It had Viktor feeling unwanted, old, un needed, a relic in a younger man’s life. He felt with every smile from Kraven, every chirped excuse, every attempt to placate and flatter the elder by his young lover was a sham. Empty, hollow words and meaningless promises that of late were not kept but redirected to someone else. Given to someone Viktor did not even know but was completely envious of, envious this person was receiving what he thought was his alone what should have been his, what Kraven had at one time professed belong to the Elder and no one else.
Enough was enough.
Viktor glanced at the clock, as usual Kraven had stood him up, had not returned yet and sunrise was less than an hour away. The elder gave a heavy sigh and picked up the phone and spoke to the Capitan of the Death Dealers.
"Close the House. Lock it down for sunrise. No One leaves or enters until I say."
