He should be more upset.
Bonnie had been crying when she told him to go. Tears had pooled in her eyes and leaked down her cheeks, and she had curled into herself and pulled away from him.
But he hadn't wanted to reach out for her. He never wanted to hurt her, but his mind was elsewhere and really all he wanted was to go home. He didn't want to stand in the basement where she brought him to life and tell her he loved a dead girl who had just vanished into thin air.
He walks home with his hands deep in his pockets, completely alone.

He sits on the edge of his bed and he stares at his hands and he feels his shoulders beginning to shake. He wants to believe he's better than crying alone in his room, but he loves her and this is the second time he has had to lose her. He cradles his head against his folded arms and he fights the sobs.
Bonnie has Elena and Caroline, who have Stefan and Tyler, who have Damon and Matt, who have Katherine and he just can't stand to think about all the people that Matt doesn't have because everything just hurts too much.
He hopes she found her mother.

Alaric comes back to the house late at night, bags under his eyes as he mutters something about Damon and the Originals and cave paintings, and he stumbles right past Jeremy's open door. A few minutes later he stumbles back, stopping in the doorway.
"Bonnie will come around," he says. "And if you pull your head out of your ass, maybe you can fix this."
Jeremy shakes his head. "It doesn't matter. I lost her."
"You can get her back."
"No," he says. "I can't."
"I love her. I've always loved her."
