I love Jetfire as the "father figure to young flyer" here. Little guy's in trouble, and Jetfire has to be the enforcer... but he's an understanding enforcer. One who knows the kid has a lot on his mind.
As far as Glidey himself... you do this with all your characters, baby, and it's wonderful. Canon Glidey is a two-dimensional guy who can fly and... ummm he shows off and... oh and he can fly. Your Powerglide is a mech who shows off because he's dancing with the view... one who wants nothing more than to have a peaceful and carefree life not because he wants everyone to think he's something special, but because that's how it should be.
Secondly, I was a bit wary at first when I read the summary, mainly because politics and fanfic can mix oh-so-badly, but reading the story I really do like this piece a lot. It's an interesting take on the egotistical little plane and I really like how you characterize Jetfire (plus it's interesting to see "Jetfire" rather than "Skyfire" make an appearance in a fic).
