The silence that followed was earth-shattering. It seemed as if everyone present in the room had been rendered speechless, by just those three words. Yunho stood up, and Jaejoong being able to tell that his boyfriend was not just upset, but furious, grabbed his arm in an effort to both calm him down in restrain him.

"Sex," Yunho spat. "Are you trying to say that I am responsible for Jaejoong’s state?"

"You're a top right?" Heechul asked casually, not backing down. Hangeng had his hands on his pregnant boyfriend's shoulders, his expression strained. He knew Yunho wouldn't attack Heechul, but he wasn't so sure about Heechul. "I'm not saying you're responsible Yunho-shi, I'm saying this is the only way it could have gotten to this point. With a woman her eggs must be fertilized in order for a baby to be formed, what makes this process any different? Artificial womb, artificial eggs--"

"Artificial babies..." Baro whispered. Everyone glanced in his direction. He looked like he had blanched, he was so freaked out. Baro stared over at them, not looking at any one person directly. "You guys keep saying artificial... wouldn’t that mean the babies were too? Wow, I don't think I can do this, this is really creepy."

"An artificial baby...?" Jaejoong looked troubled. Kangin who had gone back to leaning against the wall pushed him-self off of it to stand beside Onew.

"The babies aren't artificial, I can vouch for that. I saw Taebin and Dongwook's son with my own eyes, there was nothing fake about him. He moved and cried like a real child. I don't know about you all, but whoever is behind this shit is one sick bastard." Kangin turned and stormed out the room, the door slamming shut behind him violently. Onew winced and gave the others an apologetic bow on Kangin's behalf.

"It’s fine Onew-ah, we all understand Kangin-hyung’s anger." Donghae soothed. "You can go after him if you like, he is your partner."

"Thanks hyung," Onew said gratefully before following Kangin out, though he left in a more reasonable manner. Yunho was now pinching the bridge of his nose, he had a headache that was pounding so furiously against his skull that it was making him dizzy. Jaejoong took notice and stood up to wrap an arm around his waist.

"I think we should go home Yunho,"

"I can't go home Jae," Jaejoong's heart stuttered at the lost tone in Yunho's voice. "Do you think I could rest or sleep knowing your life is in danger? Someone died because of this Jaejoong-ie."

Jaejoong opened his mouth to say something, anything, but nothing would come out. Yunho got back his bearings and looked around at the officers left. He would catch up with Kangin later, now that someone had died because of 'Bourne' they were going to have to work alongside the homicide unit and he wasn't complaining, the more minds, the better.

"I'm going to ask the three of you some questions, and I want you to answer honestly, then I'm going to give out some orders that you better follow." He was talking to the rookies now, who nodded, even Kyuhyun who still looked out of it. "Are any of you in a homosexual relationship?" Kyuhyun and Minho nodded again. Baro shook his head.

"I'm not even in a relationship," He answered, looking a bit frightened under Yunho's intense stare.

"Have you slept with any one male, within the past year or so?" Baro shook his head to that as well, and then spoke up because Yunho didn't look like he believed him. Yunho eventually took his word for it an zeroed him out. He turned to Kyuhyun and Minho.

"I have a boyfriend, we’ve been together for about four years, he's eighteen though..." Minho wasn't sure why Taemin's age mattered, but if he was pregnant, and he could die, then... what had he done? "I... we... he's been sick."

Yunho swore under his breath, before focusing on Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun's throat opened and closed and he could feel the tears burning along the backs of his eyes.

"Kyuhyun," Yunho called out to him sharply. "What about you and your boyfriend, have you been sexually active within the past year or so?" Even though the answer was obvious, he still felt as if it had to be asked.

"I... yes, we have... and he's been sick also." It's why he broke up with me. Kyuhyun thought to him-self, blinking his eyes rapidly to stop the tears.

"Heechul-shi could you grab that pad and pen off my desk and hand it to Joongie? Jae, I'm going to need you to write these names down for me." Jaejoong took the pad and pen from Heechul, who was stroking one of Hangeng's hands. "Alright, what are their names? We're going to need them to come down for questioning and you can be present with them as well, for support if needed."

Minho told him Taemin's first and last name. Kyuhyun hesitated before saying, "Shim Changmin."

The pen and pad dropped from Jaejoong's fingers and he let out a loud gasp that had Yunho at his side instantly, touching his stomach and asking him if he were all right. Jaejoong was looking at Kyuhyun though, in disbelief.

"Changmin, Shim Changmin? My baby Changmin?"

Kyuhyun was a bit confused, he'd heard Changmin speak fondly and sometimes not so fondly of his umma, but he always figured he was talking about his actual umma. The two of them hadn't been dating each other for very long, just a little over two years. They've met each other's families of course, under the guise of friends, but outside family? No. Well, on Changmin's part. He didn't seem interested in showing Kyuhyun that side of him-self. Though looking into Jaejoong's wavering black eyes, he honestly wished he had.

"Yunho, it's Changmin, I--I have to get to him, this is why he hasn't been talking to me!"

Yunho's eyebrows drew inward as something in his head seemed to click. Changmin!? He turned to go, but then realized that he hadn't given out his orders on what he wanted the others to do. Yunho gestured to Baro, who sat-up straighter in his seat.

"I want you to dig up information for me see if you can find anything of any use about this drug on the internet, I doubt it, but it doesn't hurt to look. I also want you to go to club Gypsy and gather information there, try to find out if there are others outside of this department that has become infected. It's concentrated inside of here at the moment, but that doesn't mean that whoever is behind this isn't taking the steps to filter it out into the world." Baro nodded and stood to go, glad to finally be out of here. This wasn't what he had signed up for, but he was going to do the best he could anyway.

"Minho-ah, I want you to go and get your boyfriend, whether he is in class or not, it doesn't matter. In his state he shouldn't be alone, especially if it is affecting his body the way it is." Yunho halted Baro at the door and they exchanged cell numbers, he also exchanged numbers with Minho. Afterward the two practically tore down the hall in their haste to carry out their orders. Yunho turned looking at Donghae and Kibum, who had been quiet up to this point.

"Donghae-yah, you don't mind staying behind do you? Since we believe the drug started here we're going to need eyes on the inside. Don't relay what we've discussed inside this room to anyone else, at this point in time we can trust anyone."

Donghae nodded. "Do you want me to see if anyone else is pregnant by this drug inside the station? I'm probably not the only bottom going through this that works here."

"That is a good idea, but don't let them in on anything until you can be absolutely sure 'Bourne' is behind it." Yunho glanced at Jaejoong who was as white as a sheet and hyperventilating slightly. He took his hands an pressed his lips against his ear. "Boojae, please, calm down, think about the baby okay? We are on our way to Changmin-ah right now, he won't have to be alone anymore."

The tears fell one right after the other and Jaejoong collapsed into Yunho's arms. How had he not known that his son was suffering in silence? Jaejoong had just thought that it was Changmin's way of being rebellious and wanting to branch out on his own an not have Jaejoong fussing over him every second. But even so he should have known something was wrong when Changmin stopped coming over for dinner, then stopped contacting him and even Yunho completely. He should have known.

"Kyuhyun-ah, you come with us. Hangeng-shi, you don't mind hanging back here do you?"

Hangeng shook his head, and then bent over toward Heechul's ear. "Are you hungry Chulie? I can go get us something to eat if you are."

"The only thing that matters is if I can keep it down, are you two hungry as well?" Heechul demanded of Donghae and Kibum. Kibum wasn't sure how to answer, and Donghae didn't think he'd be able to eat anything with how bad his nerves were at the moment. Kibum was rubbing soothing circles into his lower back seemingly telling him without speaking that he would eat only if he would. Donghae smiled at him wearily, before nodding to Heechul.

Yunho and Jaejoong were holding hands as they walked out of his office, trailed by Hangeng and Heechul who had decided to get some noodles. Kyuhyun had already left, and was at the moment trying to get in touch with Changmin via his cell phone, worry flooding his system when each call went straight to voice mail. Jaejoong had strapped him-self into the passenger seat once they made it to Yunho's car, pulling out his phone to call Changmin. Yunho's own phone ringing at the same moment.

"Hello?"

"Hyung, I've tried calling him, but he won't answer. I'm worried."

"Alright, just try to get there as fast as you can, don't hesitate to call an ambulance if you find him unconscious, got that?"

"Unconscious?" Jaejoong echoed. Changmin wasn't answering his phone. Yunho gave Jaejoong a quick look before putting his key in the ignition, pushing down on the gas.

"Hold on to your seat baby, I'm about to break a few laws, but Changmin is worth it."

Taemin had been in his last class for a little over thirty minutes before his stomach started acting up on him. The teacher excused him once she realized that his face looked paler than it should have. Taemin hurriedly rushed from the classroom and into the nearest rest room where he emptied his stomach into the first cubicle he saw. He hadn't even eaten breakfast this morning just to avoid this, but it seemed as if that slight was catching up to him. Taemin felt dizzy so he rested his forehead up against the cool siding of the stall.

Taemin tried to even out his breathing as he pulled out his cell phone and highlighted his best-friend Sulli's number. She answered on the second ring:

"Taemin-ah, you know I'm in class right?" Taemin wanted to smack him-self, he had forgotten.

"I'm sorry Sullie, I just needed someone to come and pick me up from class, I'm not feeling good." There was a note of concern in her voice as she responded.

"Is Minho-oppa busy? I'm sure he would come. Is it really serious? I can see if my teacher will let me leave early."

"I--" Taemin was cut off by another rush of nausea, this one so strong he dropped his phone and it clanged against the hard floor as he vomited into the toilet once again. What the hell was wrong with him? He'd never been this sick before. Taemin reached blindly along the floor for his phone, if only to see if Sulli was still on the line. She was and it sounded as if she were in tears.

"Taemin-ah? Taemin! Oh no, what do I do?"

"I'm fine Sullie, I just think I have the flu or something..." Whatever else he was going to say was cut short by him blacking out and falling backward into the bathroom door.

Minho was on his way to Taemin's University, driving a little faster than the Korean laws strictly allowed, but this was an emergency. Taemin should be in his last class by this time, but when he had tried to call his phone it went straight to voice mail. There wasn't a time Minho could remember where Taemin hadn't answered his phone for him. He was nearing a red light when his cell rung, Minho answered it hoping that it was Taemin calling him back, it wasn't, instead it was his best-friend Sulli, sounding near hysterical.

"Sulli-ah, I'm driving right now, so I'm going to need you to calm down and tell me what is wrong?"

"It's Taemin-ah, Minho-oppa! I don't know what happened, but he was talking to me saying he needed someone to pick him up from Uni because he wasn't feeling well and then he threw up and then… I'm so worried about him!" Sulli started crying. Minho on the other hand was so alarmed at what she had just said to him that he nearly missed the red light. He pushed down quickly on the breaks and the car stopped so suddenly if he hadn’t been wearing a seat-belt he would have probably went through the wind-shield.

Minho was breathing heavily, ignoring the cars blaring at him angrily from behind. He had to get to Taemin. Minho told Sulli not to worry and that he would call her back as soon as he could. He didn't waste another second waiting for the light to turn green, he just pushed down on the accelerator and went straight through it.

"Are you all right?" Yeseob asked as he watched Mir's fingers shake as he tried to write out something, eventually breaking the pencil he was holding in half because of how much pressure he was applying to it. A bit startled Yeseob got up from his seat and went over to Mir, whose long brown bangs were covering his eyes. "Mir,"

"I'm fine, I just, don't feel well." Yeseob’s brow furrowed at that response, not feeling well, meant you weren't fine. The two worked as interns at the station, because they were still in school working on becoming police officers. So, this was basically their starting point. They could mostly be seen running around doing busy work, or the things that none of the other officers had the time to do. Mir use to be a lot more energetic than this, but suddenly, as if out of the blue he'd started acting extremely out of character. And this had been going on for more than a month.

He was sullen and always sad. Yeseob offered to take him out a couple of times, thinking the other was possibly lonely, but Mir would always turn him down. Then come in the next day looking worse. Yeseob didn't think he could keep allowing Mir to brush off his health like this as if it were nothing. He believed there was something seriously wrong with his friend, and he wanted to find out what it was.

"I can go in get In Young-noona, she used to be a nurse. You stay here, I'll be right back!" Yeseob rushed out the room after that. As soon as Mir was certain that Yeseob was not within ear shot he rushed to the rest room down the hall and threw up into the sink, thankful that no one was inside to see how pathetic he had become. The past two months had been pure torture for him, to the point that he could no longer hide behind his happy-go-lucky, puppy dog exterior.

It hurt too much. And it seemed as if it were only getting worse. Mir's eyes widened when he looked at his sick, or at least what he assumed was sick, only to see that it was blood. Mir covered his mouth and staggered away from the sink, everything around him was suddenly moving at a pace that he couldn't keep up with. The last thing he saw before passing out was his terror-struck reflection staring back at him.

Yeseob made his way into the break-room where In Young was likely to be. In Young was of course not the only noona who worked at their station as there were female police officers who worked in the field and around the station doing secretarial work. Even so In Young was the one most likely to be found in the break-room chatting it up with all the other officers; generously pouring them coffee or water, getting them a beverage or snack from one of the vending machines, or just asking them about their day.

The break-room was empty around this time of the day as most of the officers were out doing field work meaning In Young was probably somewhere else. Yeseob figured that he would go to her office or wander around in the hopes that he would bump into her. However, a weird alien feeling overcame him and he ventured inside of the break-room an over to the small kitchen area where the coffee was made. He walked up to the door to see In Young inside standing over the coffee machine a fierce look of concentration on her face.

Yeseob watched as she opened her hand and inspected a couple of see-through capsules. He wondered if she were going to take them, but to his horror she broke one open and poured a small amount of white powder into the steaming coffee. What the hell is she doing? Why is she drugging the coffee!? His first instinct was to confront her, but then that budding cop side of him took over and he slowly backed away from the door, his fingers flying over the buttons on his phone as he sent out a text.

Yeseob turned to make his way out of the break room, his first thought to go back and tell Mir what he just saw. Yeseob ended up bumping into someone's hard chest an looked up to see Taecyeon staring down at him, his gaze hardly friendly.

"What are you doing in here, aren't you supposed to be doing paperwork?"

"Ah, yes, Taecyeon-hyung, but I was looking for In Young-noona, do you know where she is?" He's in on it, whatever it is he's a part of it. Shit, what do I do? Yeseob thought desperately to him-self, his heart stopping in his chest when he heard In Young's bossy tone cut through the air.

"I think he saw me," In Young was upset, and also a little scared as she walked over and grabbed the back of Yeseob's blond hair, pulling his head back. He let out a shriek of pain as her nails dug into his scalp. "What do we do?"

Taecyeon smirked, "What do you think? Make sure he doesn't live to tell anybody.")

"Where are you going hyung?" Onew asked, as he sprinted to catch up with Kangin, who looked like an un-caged tiger.

"Where do you think? I'm going to get my boyfriend and take him to the hospital; I suggest you do the same."

"But what about Rain-shi, shouldn't we try to get in contact with him for Taebin-shi, let him know what's going on?"

Kangin whirled around, the look on his face enough to freeze water. Onew gulped, his Adams apple trembling in his throat.

"What the hell is more important to you, letting Rain know something I have no doubt he already knows, or the welfare of the one you love?" Kangin ran his fingers through his hair. "This shit got real the minute I saw that nurse holding a baby that came from the body of a man, I'll be damned if I lose Leeteuk-ie in that way. I'll kill every damn police officer in here if it comes to that!"

It looked as if he wanted to say something else, but left leaving Onew standing there and looking like a tornado had just passed right by him. Kangin was right though, Key was certainly more important. Onew could see Dongwook, his open stomach, how pale-blue his face had been in death, Taebin's gut-wrenching sadness and regret. How could someone do something like this, what reason could it be that innocent men had to suffer because of it?

Onew could feel his throat closing up as he stared down at the ground.

("Why are you looking at me like that Onew-hyung? I told you it's probably food poisoning; I just need to get it out of my system."

Onew moved his lips to say something along the lines of, "No, it's much worse than that. Food poisoning might as well be the common cold compared to this." But instead he just wrapped his arms around Key's small waist and pulled the slighter man into his body, inhaling the girly scent of his hair. Key slapped his back, though he didn't push him away.

"Pabo, what's gotten into you?")

Onew lifted his head up, his eyes slightly red and gazed around at the spacious entryway, inwardly begging its silent walls to divulge its hidden secrets, before it was too late.

The head of Narcotics and the chief of police sat in a hospital room holding the hand of his Life Partner, or the hand of who once was his Life Partner. He was gone now, and all that was left were memories and a bawling baby girl, that was no longer in the room with them.

"Junki," Rain whispered harshly to no one, staring at the man's pale face. His long black hair splayed over the white pillow like some sort of tragic Shakespearean tragedy. "How did it get to this point, why did we let it get to this point? I'm sorry." He closed his eyes, breathing in through his nose. There were invisible tears in his eyes that were now falling down his cheeks.

Lee Junki and Rain had broken up months before Yunho and Yoochun strolled into his office, delivering a mouthful of impossibility. But it had been that conversation that had made Rain stop being such a stubborn hard ass and go see just why Junki had decided to abruptly end things between them. He'd just assumed that it was because he was tired of playing the mistress, but then if that were the case, he would have ended it between them years ago. They'd been dating during his engagement, and though they had had a bitter falling out, they had ended up getting back together.

Rain didn't hide the fact that he was having an affair from his wife, they argued over it all the time. Hyori always threatening to leave him, but never quite following through with it: ("Why are you waiting for her to say its over, why don't you do her a favor and end it yourself!?") Rain never asked for a divorce, not in those words anyway, because he wanted to save face. Divorce was an ugly process and he'd rather not go through with it, especially with the risk of Hyori outing him in anger. So, he stopped being as open about his relationship and it seemed to appease Hyori, even though it left Junki with only a part of him.

Junki still wanted to see him even after this slight, seemingly resigning him-self to his role as Rain's dirty, gay secret. Rain did the best he could to appease Junki, telling him that this was just the way it was. How it had to be, because this was the type of world they lived in. Their relationship ended officially three months after that, and Rain could still remember Junki shouting at him through his tears that he never wanted to see him again ("I mean it Jihoon! I... it's over...").

And this was why. He had found out that he was pregnant, and didn't want to burden Rain, or maybe he just didn't want him to know. You were all alone, all by yourself, suffering. I should have been there with you! Damnit!

"DAMMNIT!" Rain cried out, slamming his fist against his knee. His shoulders started to shake, and the normally stoic, no non-sense police chief gave way to his grief. Not giving a damn who heard him. Junki had put up with all of his shit, with an unwavering strength that no woman he had ever met could possess. Junki was there by his side, through his highest of highs and his lowest of lows, loving him unconditionally and without fault. The words he could never say to him, spilled out of his mouth over and over again. Even though Junki couldn't hear him, he said those three words over and over again, until he lost his voice, hoping that by some other force they would reach him.

The door opened with a click, but Rain didn't look up. Too overcome with sorrow to even care who had entered the room. It was most likely the nurse come to tell him that they had called the coroner.

"Jihoon," The soft, tremulous voice cut through his fog of despair and Rain's head snapped up, his blurred eyes focusing on his wife, Hyori.

Hyori wasn't looking at him though; she was looking at Junki. Rain's face twisted into fury when he saw Hyori put her hands over her mouth in a gesture of horror, eyes now suddenly wet with tears. Rain stood up carefully, what the hell was she doing here? How did she--

The door to the hospital room swung open and to Rain's absolute shock a horde of cameramen and reporters swarmed inside, each firing off a series of questions one after another. Through the chaos and flashing lights Rain's eyes met Hyori’s; she didn't even need to tell him, because he already knew. This was her revenge, but it hadn't quite played out like she had wanted it to.

Checkmate.

We all lose.
