Jewel
woogyu
G.
"you can't do anything without me hyung, you're stuck with me."
jewel
(today, once again,
my every craving fill the square, grey sky.
the reason i can keep walking without losing sight of the light
is because you always taught me that there are pure things left in the corners of this town.)
the practice had gone on for nearly three hours before sunggyu saw it fit to give them a break. woohyun avoiding his gaze and pushing the practice room door open so he could step out into the sunshine. the breeze was shallow but enough to sastisfy for the moment. he felt, as he always felt when they practiced for hours on end without a break, as if his bones had dissolved. woohyun sat down in a chair that had been placed out front and leaned back closing his eyes in exhaustion.
hoya, or dongwoo... sungyeol? had shouted off to him that they were going down to the nearest convenience store to get some ice cream and that they would bring him some back. woohyun figured that they had all went, so he jumped when five minutes later he felt someone's hand on his shoulder.
he opened his eyes to see that it was sunggyu, the look on his face tired yet comforting. woohyun felt his desire for the other man fill his heart to the point that it was full enough to burst. so, he turned his gaze away and looked up toward the sky.
"are you ready for the concert?"
"i don't think i have any other choice but to be ready. it doesn't make me any less worried though." woohyun answered, deciding that it wouldn't kill him to put his thoughts into words just this once. sunggyu tilted his head to the side, as if waiting for him to continue. "i'm good." woohyun finished, giving him a lazy smile.
a small sound escaped sunggyu's lips before he turned away and stared off down the street.
"let's go, i want to make sure they aren't getting into any mischief." woohyun slumped further in his chair and made a face.
"i don't wanna, i'm tired. you can go on without me."
sunggyu held out his hand, his face blank, but woohyun could see the irritation and the fire in his eyes.
"you know i can't do anything without you."
that's true. woohyun thought, before taking sunggyu's hand in silent resignation.
(when you laid your exhausted body down and went to sleep
i watched you, holding my breathe.
i am the only person in the whole world
who knows your sweet, helpless profile.)
after the concert everyone was bone tired, but no one moreso than sunggyu and it looked as if his insane rocker screams had shot his voice down, at least for the rest of the night. he'd probably drink something warm in the morning to remedy it. everyone changed and showered as if they were zombies, before going off to their respected rooms and falling out for the night.
woohyun was the last one to shower and walked back into him and sunggyu's room toweling his hair dry. the other man was on the bottom bunk, fast asleep with his mouth open. it wasn't anything knew, but woohyun couldn't help but stare at him.
sunggyu was cute, but he was also moody and more naggy than a wife or a mom. so, when he wasn't completely enamoured with him, the other man annoyed him utterly. however, in sleep he was neither cute nor naggy; he was just him and this was the sunggyu he liked the best. the sunggyu he could stare at without the other man punching him in the arm, pushing him or snapping at him for being too weird and greasy. this sweet, ungaurded profile that only woohyun knew, that only woohyun saw.
because sunggyu was only like this with him, and woohyun was the only person he trusted.
(one day, when the sun's rays poured down like usual
alone, i felt something inside of me
become strong and sure.)
woohyun sometimes wondered what his fans saw in him that he didn't see. what was it about him-self that made them think that he was so confident of his place in the world, of his place in infinite, of his place by sunggyu's side?
the car was noisy as usual as everyone tried to out talk one another. dongwoo laughing loudly, too loudly at something only he thought was funny. hoya was looking like someone had abducted his brain. sungjong was complaining, as usual. sungyeol was bothering myungsoo, who despite the stony look on his face didn't look like he minded too much and sunggyu was on his phone, ignoring them all. woohyun sat in the back, by the window staring out at the passing scenery, and wondering why he felt so detached and out of place.
his phone beeped and he picked it up seeing that he had gotten a text from sunggyu who was sitting in the passenger's seat.
is something wrong?
woohyun frowned. sunggyu could read him like a book, and sometimes that fact bothered him.
no, i'm fine.
no you aren't.
yes, i am.
we'll talk later.
woohyun sighed and leaned his head back, staring up into the sun, though maybe not quite. the rays spilled out and bathed him in a warm light as they passed through it, and for some reason he felt his heart beating a little quicker in his chest. strong, and sure, like the steady beat of music, or sunggyu's soft voice whispering in his ear.
(the reason my tears overflowed even though i wasn't sad
was because your love penetrated the scars deep in my heart
so deeply it hurt
and turned them into tenderness.)
when they got back to the dorm, tired and sweaty, sunggyu took woohyun's wrist and dragged him off to their shared room, shutting and locking the door behind him. he had a feeling that the others: dongwoo, sungyeol and sungjong, would be trying to listen in at the door, but he didn't care. woohyun had been acting strange, even around him and it was something that sunggyu, not even as the leader, but as woohyun's best friend, could no longer tolerate.
"what's the deal, why are you acting like this?"
woohyun could feel his heart, thudding, quicker than anything his chest as he stared back into sunggyu's passion filled eyes and wiped the sweat off his brow. it was just like sunggyu to give a damn, even when he didn't want him to. even when he him-self was selfish, stubborn and kept all his feelings inside. woohyun took a certain perverse pleasure in knowing that he was the only one that could rile sunggyu up like this.
sunggyu was in his line of vison now, his hands on his shoulders, looking worried.
"woohyun?" he asked, softly.
the tears filled his eyes before he could stop them and fell down his cheeks and what the fuck, he wasn't even sad! sunggyu's eyes widened a bit when he saw the tears trailing down woohyun's cheeks, and he immediately begin wiping them away with the pads of this thumbs. woohyun tried to pull away but sunggyu held fast to him. always stronger than he looked. woohyun, giving in, looped his arms around sunggyu's waist and pressed their foreheads together.
a bit confused when sunggyu tilted his head to the side and brought their lips together. woohyun was still at first, but eventually melted into the kiss. his heart filling with a love that was tender and un-ending.
(if you meet a deep sadness one day
i hope you share it with me
i can do anything for your smile
my precious treasure
my precious treasure.)
"do you want me to go up to my bunk?" woohyun asked, later that night when they laid tangled together on sunggyu's bed.
"no, just make sure you do before the morning though." sunggyu's voice was lower, deeper, meaning he was nearing sleep. "are you okay now? you really surprised me when you started crying."
"sorry," woohyun snuggled closer to him. "i wasn't crying because i was sad though." sunggyu just nodded his head. there was silence for a moment: "what about you?"
"hmm? what do you mean?"
woohyun thought about it for a second and then said: "you'll tell me if you're sad right?"
sunggyu laughed, it ruffled woohyun's bangs. "of course i would. i already told you, i trust you more than anyone." the tears pricked at woohyun's eyes but he refused to let them fall, instead he leaned closer to sunggyu's face and kissed his lips. the other didn't respond to the kiss, most likely because he had finally fallen asleep. woohyun smiled, and wanted to say something like: you're my precious treasure. but instead he said:
"you can't do anything without me hyung, you're stuck with me." woohyun felt sunggyu's arms tighten around him; he was smiling.
i know.
