The Yuletide holiday movies really are meant to make one cry, aren't they. I need to stop watching the romantic/I have a new family/holiday trial and tribulation ones.

Though 'Love, Actually' isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Still romantic, but terribly amusing.

Would anyone like to come over for Christmas dinner? Or even eggnog?

I don't think tears are their objective.

I think emotion is their objective. What the individual experiences while watching such things may differ from others.

I assumed the point was to point out that the material goods are not the important part of the holiday, even though they broadcast many commercials that conflict their point during said movies.

It depends on the film, I suspect. And if you aren't watching a broadcast of the film, then there are no commercials to contend with.

Sadly, the greed factor for the giving part of this holiday has taken over. It was never meant to be like that.

Firstly, did you cry through 'Love, Actually'?

Secondly, Christmas dinner does seem like a perfectly ordinary thing to plan but I am still, admittedly, surprised that you seem to be planning one.

Just the ending.

It would be nice to have something ordinary for a change, wouldn't it?

I was under the impression this season was supposed to be a happy one.

Oh, it can be. It's only that some of the films are the sort that 'pull at the heartstrings', as they say. Some happy, some sad.
