Sort of wondering

I know I am mostly personna in absentia here in LJ. I'm also ID'd as lurking here, reading your posts, but never responding. Guilty ( Read more... )

You can't make FB less annoying because FB is fundamentally flawed. It encourages light surface-level only interactions and makes it actively difficult to connect on a deeper level. On top of this, they focus on stupid applications whose primary purposes seem to be to spam your friends and waste your time.

Best bet is to use FB to connect, and then shift those connections to sites that promote the generation of actual content (LJ, flickr, etc).

In the end, the value of a relationship, be it romantic or friends-only, is directly proportional to the amount of time you put into it, and sites like FB, LinkedIn and Twitter make it far too easy to minimize the time spent connecting and maximize the time spent playing solitary games.

Thank you for confirming my reaction. Lil anything not only makes me cringe, but then afflicts me with adds and wants me to involve friends. It horrifiingly reminds me of the prayer chain letters of my Iowa Catholic youth.

We're only "all on Facebook" just to test the waters. I like that I've made connections to people I haven't seen in a long time, but dislike that those connections are little more than saying 'hello'. Ah well. At some point I'll tire of it.

And yes, I'm amused to talk about FB on LJ, and to link to LJ from FB. Whee!
