... What the hell is that? Did this place just get another sun or has that always been there?

[It takes him a little longer than he expects to reach the docks. The bullet wounds he'd taken a week earlier are healing, but he isn't moving as fast as usual; nor is he looking forward to putting up a fight if Harvey is setting him up.

He'll find out soon enough.

His gun is still tucked into his waistband, and he leaves it there for now. It seems like a lot had happened in the few days he took to recover and he's been so wrapped up in his own problems that he barely noticed. Spike shoves his hands in his pockets and digs around for a cigarette while looking around for the other man.]

Harvey?

[Harvey is sans his blazer and without his coin now. Rolled up white-sleeves caress his elbows and his hands are deep in his pockets. He's watching the bay, watching as the waves roll onto each other.]

[He's never seen anything quite so beautiful, not even with the big burning whatever-the-fuck it is in the sky. He can just ignore it for the time being.]

Yeah. [Dent turns, a slight smile on his face. He pulls his hands from his pockets and extends them right to his front.]

[Spike watches his face curiously, thinking that he might be a different person from who he'd been hunting months ago. He's certainly a lot calmer than Spike is expecting for a mass murderer. It isn't the only thing that had made him curious about this man. When he notices Harvey's hands, he shrugs apologetically.]

Sorry, I don't have any handcuffs.

[He fishes out a cigarette and takes a second to light it before taking a long exhale. Spike almost had to give the habit up until he found a few packs in the shops that had been restored. He burned through most of them in a day, but it was well worth it.

He returns the mans smile after a minute. It's almost funny that he decided to turn himself in long after Spike had given up. For once it doesn't bother him that it doesn't make any sense to him.]

Why the sudden change?

[Harvey touches his face; the scars are gone and he can feel soft skin there now. He closes his eyes, smiles, then drops his hands again.]

[And his head turns back out to sea.]

They took away Two-Face and gave me my identity back. At least, that's what they said. I don't know for how long it'll last, but I have to make things right. I have to set things on a course that will provide hope in a hopeless world. I have to - I have to face the monster that I became.

[He raises an eyebrow, genuinely surprised at his sincerity.]

They did, did they?

[Maybe this was the side of him that Nagi had been trying to protect. Even if it was an act, he could see why someone would fall for it.]

Can I ask you something? What happened to Two-Face? Seemed to me like you were trying to prove something, but I never got the story.

[Spike pauses long enough to take another drag of the cigarette.]

If you don't mind me asking.

[Two-Face; it's a sore subject, but one he has to tackle. Harvey bows his head and folds his arms over his chest.]

Two-Face was born out of my hatred. For everything. I wanted to prove that the world could be divided into blacks and whites, nothing else. Fifty-fifty. The same - it was the chance she had.

[Bright blue eyes open up and Harvey turns to Spike.] Eventually, the hatred took over, manifested into something terrifying. It was why the Joker chose me; to make me fall out of the three. He poisoned me and made Two-Face and Two-Face fed on his philosophies; of chaos and destruction.

[He turns away quickly; he doesn't like talking about himself like this. Not at all.]

I allowed it to manifest; I was too weak to hold it off. I have no excuses.

[The chance she had. It isn't the first time he's mentioned a girl. Probably someone he lost just before he went insane. That's all he needs to know. Spike breaks the gaze the same time he does and lets silence hang between them after his story.]

So you were working with the Joker?

[Spike finishes his cigarette and flicks it off into the water. Smoker's office is close by, he has to wonder why Harvey chose to come to him first. Maybe he's doing him a favor.]

I promised someone I'd get you help. If you're serious, I'll do what I can.

[A look of pure anger crosses Harvey's face for all but a few seconds. When it disappears, he looks more hurt than anything.]

Never. I never worked with the Joker. He just chose me.

[Out of nervousness, he flattens his tie to his chest.] It is right that the people get their justice.

Justice, right. Seems like a lot of people have a lot of opinions about that.

[He takes a brief glance behind him towards the office. There isn't really a good place to hold him, but he seems to be cooperative enough that it might not matter.

Spike doesn't mention that there isn't really a system in place to prosecute him. And either way, he's going to have to have a long talk with the Commodore if he is going to keep the rest of the public happy once they found out he's there.]

Let's go then.

So I've heard.

[Harvey makes his way to Spike's side and nods.] Right.
