I recognized more of the songs on this set of lists than on the last one. Some of the videos for these songs pop into my head, too.

Nearly all of those 1984 songs remind me of the Olympics and MTV. I wonder why there aren't any Cars songs on that list? "You Might Think" and "Summer, it's Like a Merry go Round" remind me of that summer too. Oh yeah, and We're Not Going to Take It, by Twisted Sister.

The song that reminds me most of summer 1985 isn't on that list -- Round and Round by Dead or Alive. And then there was the song of the same name, by Ratt.

God, I love these lists.

They did have 3 on the charts that summer, but none cracked the Top 20:
"Magic" at #27
"Drive" at #54
"You Might Think" was #63 (It had been popular in April/May, so was on its way down during the months tabulated here).

"Summer, it's Like a Merry go Round"

I first posted "I've never heard this song in my life", but I now realize you are talking about the song whose actual title is "Magic" ["Whoa-ho-oh, it's magic, when I'm with you" is the chorus]--see above, #27.

We're Not Going to Take It, by Twisted Sister.

Didn't crack the charts until August, so it's too late to place on this list.

"You Spin Me Round" was indeed from the Summer of 1985, but not quite a big enough chart hit to make this Top 20--my stats have it as #32 for the summer.

For some reason, "Who's That Girl?" by Madonna reminds me of being chased around the Lloyd Center Red Lion Hotel (Portland) by an Arab who got mad when I laughed at him for saying, "I DEMAND your phone number!"
