A composition like this one is always tricky. You were attracted to it because of the color and contrast between the blues and browns. The rope, because it offsets the rest of the busy picture attracts the eye, but isn't particularly attractive. The chain links, being dark and recessive, don't really add to the picture but are still an eye-catching part of the composition.
A busy pattern shot like this may be better presented as a pure abstract, zipped up with very high contrast and brightness, even shown as a negative image. Fooling around with the effects browser in PhotoShop, Paint Shop Pro or any of the other editing programs is fun and could make this into a visually attractive image.

I haven't played too much with creating the entirely abstract, but it is something I'll give some thought to.
Thanks. I appreciate the critique and wouldn't mind seeing more commentary here from folks with a more expertise (or at least stronger opinions) than I have. ^^
The orange underneath is a wee distracting. Perhaps cropping some of that out is the blue is overwhelming might work, because then the rope and chain are definately something to draw the eye to.
