ive been thinking lately about attraction... like if i said to you, wow, i'm really attracted to that person, youd probably assume i was talking about sexually/physically... what about just being attracted to a person as a human, like why would you be friends with someone if something about them didn't attract you in the first place, doesn't mean ( Read more... )

After reading this, I was brought back to Sociology class [held earlier this morning], where we discussed gender roles in American Society and their stereotypical terminologies of the opposing sex and "sex" itself. This included [your pondering] the immediate assumption of words such as: attraction, love, sex, men, women, jealousy, etc. Our first thought is to place all these words together, rather than defining them independently [as their initial meaning isn't necessarily (as you stated) sexual or physical], there is a general mind-in-the-gutter mentality.
