Somehow I don't see the point of it.

Family, friends being our weaknesses, that is, as they're really our strengths.

It goes both ways, I know. They like to use them against us, but it usually turns out poorly for the other side, doesn't it? Giving us a reason to fight that much harder.

Well, that, and the ones being used don't take to it very kindly either; they fight back at closer range, too.

It's the best thing to do. Give them trouble at both ends and they've lost before they even realise it. At least, that's the plan, anyway.

Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything.

[From inside the lobby -]

Why is a picture of you dancing with Neville Longbottom included in this?

[Pause.]

I didn't date him, if that's what you're thinking.

Okay, so... why is there a picture of you dancing with Neville Longbottom included in this?

He's one of my best friends.

[Even without the help of the curse, she'd answer that with the same sureness and immediacy.]

We went through a lot together-me, him, and the rest of the DA. Sort of forms a bond you'd die for, as dramatic as that sounds.

Not camels, I hope.

Why does everyone always notice the camels first?

Oh--do they really?

The first time that photo appeared, it was about the camels and the pyramids and not the sunburned family in front of it. Probably just as well, though. The English shouldn't be out in sun like that for too long.

Egypt. I've never understood the fascination. Would that make one of the 'other things' men and women wearing kohl and gold then, I wonder? Or an over abundance of yellow. That would be a rather disheartening weakness, I think, but perhaps not entirely uncommon amongst those that spend a disproportionate amount of time under Oxford-grey skies.

As fond as I am of yellow, no. Definitely not one of my weaknesses. And seeing as this curse won't let me lie about those things? You can forget about your other theories, too.

[There's something of a sigh on her end, and then she moves on.]

As for Egypt, we were visiting my eldest brother. He worked there for a few years as a cursebreaker.

They weren't theories.

How delightfully ironic, given the current circumstances.

Yeah, they were. You're just being difficult.

[Like she is now.]

Bill's a talented wizard but I think even the City would be a little beyond him. Not that he's ever been here, even on a visitor's day.

Ah -- Miss Ginny? Is that you? When you were... how old were you, exactly? Haaa, cute from early on, was it?

I'm the only girl there, apart from Mum. Of course it's me. We visited Egypt a little before I turned twelve years old, actually. So, yeah, quite young.
