Brilliant! I can see and hear this in my head, and it feels so right. I'm convinced I like this better than any prequel JKR will write! Your characterizations are spot on. And Snape thinking the werewolf had killed Lupin - that's so clever, and makes so much sense!

Really, this was a total joy to read. I love James' inner dialogue about what to share with Sirius.

And this was a brilliant stroke:

Snape phrased it as a question, but James did not answer. In fact, with an icy chill he realized he might have done better to keep his mouth shut and gone straight to Dumbledore to explain.

I love that this makes both James & Sirius complicit in Remus' outing. Because really, we are all idiots at 15 or 16 and how many times did we hurt someone (big & small) by letting dumb things tumble from our lips?

Ohh James, just stay quiet! ;) I loved this, I could definitely see this happening; unlike many other fics out there centered around this incident, this was so subtle and because of that, so realistic. James is such a teenager here, totally unaware of the enormity of the situation. And Snape was perfectly characterized as well. Wonderful job!
