I'm not too worried yet...only because I think that it's been so long that they NEED the fans to come. And removing the MSR would really kill a lot of people. Show's canon. We'll always have "the truth" :-) And bootleg video of them making out in the hall.
As for the dismal failure...that I'm a little curious about. I mean, I love it, but it HAS been 10 years since the last one, and seasons 8 and 9? Not good. And since they're both on the lam? That's going to make it difficult for them to go back to being FBI agents. (Which is what people want to see them as.) And there are probably no fighting alien robots, pirates or boy wizards to help them with either becoming FBI agents again or with the box office gross... It'll be interesting.
I just hope its fun and adventurous, as opposed to overly plotty, dense and humorless.

See, that's just the thing. He's pretty much said that the timeline is flexible so things can go out of order. I do recall that way WAY back in the day that they were talking about this movie it was going to be a LOT less mytharc and WAY more MOTW. Which means he felt like it was OK to take it back to an earlier season (um, they're like...old now. WTF.) and just slide in a MOTW movie.
He'd do his entire franchise a disservice if he went that route - people want to know what M/S did AFTER The Truth, that's the whole point. We don't want to skip backwards in time for a stupid monster ep.
But I? I HAVE NO FAITH IN CHRIS CARTER. I hang my hopes on David and Gillian to make him behave.
Count me in. I've been thinking it's time for another X-Cursion anyway. And if they do back track and there is no canoodling then they will have a riot on their hands.
Wow...I can't believe they are actually going through with the second movie.

Hey...Duchovney needs to eat. Those Purina commercials can't cover Tia Leone's botox bills.
But yes, I think we do need an X-cursion...if they're going to take back the Mulder/Scully lovin', then we'll need each other's comfort. But, I won't guess that they're going to do that just yet...I mean, it's been 10 years...give the people what they want or no one will go see it.
Also, I have this who long reply to your message about how I went to Wellington and then got the salmonella and then made the old people's party go and then decided to move back into north Austin, etc...and I just haven't had a chance to sit down and write it out. The last 2-3 weeks at work have been the busiest I've been in probably 18 months, and the capital campaign is about to make me pull my eyes out. But I didn't want you to think I didn't love you anymore!

Bwah!!
And no worries. I've actually been composing an email to you in my head for about a month and just haven't gotten to actually writing it. A good correspondent I am not. We will catch up soon!

I'm terrified. That we'll lose what little love we got at the end, and that it's been so long it's going to be a dismal failure. EEK.
