Oddly, I was flipping through the channels today and stopped on a show describing how population control is no longer mentioned much when it comes to talks about environmentalism ever since Roe vs Wade. It's as if for the movement to continue, they made a pact with the pro-lifers. And that's odd to think about; the people that want everyone to live and have a chance at life are muting the people that want to protect our habitat for future generations to live in.

Could you imagine the uproar that would ensue from trying to tell people that the government is going to decree how many children they can have? Imagine that in countries where religion dominates everything and their religion is based on procreating - a lot. We can't even handle a healthcare debate or the government being allowed to regulate coal and oil. Everyone who is involved with the trying to preserve the environment knows the best thing would be zero population growth (or negative population growth for a while) but it would be impossible to implement on people without it being something they come to on their own. Or if the people rise up against our new socialist government and install a dictator who favors population control....

Tell me about it, we can't abort defective fetuses or use excess children to feed the starving masses but they don't want Americans to be responsible as a community/society for taking care of those children (and eventually adults) ex utero. Mixed message here people.
