HP DAY 6: What House would you want to be in?
IS THIS EVEN A QUESTION WITH ME?
I'm the most sterotypical Ravenclaw you'll ever meet, and I'm damn proud of it. It's reached the point now where some describe the way I'm acting or something I'm doing as "[insert Ravenclaw trait here]" and someone on the other side of the room will chime in "Ravenclaw!"
And when I say Ravenclaw I mean to say the
AWESOME KIND
NOT THE LAME KIND
Ravenclaw is the best, we're awesome, and so is our common room. (aaaahhh i love that Ravenclaw had their day, as promised).
It's seriously the most under appreciated house though. I mean Gryffindor and Slytherin are considered the "main" houses due to the moives and the majority of the mian characters being in those houses. As for Hufflepuff... well there's just so many of them. Serious Hufflepuff pandemonium in the fandom. And then that leaves Ravenclaw. I know so few Ravenclaws, none of whom are among the people I see/talk to on a daily-weekly basis.
As for you Hufflepuffs who think your house is the best. You think that because you are Hufflepuff, just as I think Ravenclaw is because I'm Ravenclaw. You say it's because your house takes the lot while the other houses exclude, but that's not how I few it. Each House represents four patterns of thought, not ideas or ideologies, but the actual thinking process, how our brains find patterns and connect things. And because of these different thought processes, we develop traits, which leads us to the four houses. So I get what you Hufflepuffs are saying when you commend 'taking the lot' but that lot are all Hufflepuffs, not people who don't fit into the other houses. The Hufflepuff traits are just more subtle and far reaching. And if you don't like what I habe to say -throws glove down- I'll see you on the Quidditch Pitch.
Um, the end. Go RAVENCLAW! WOOO BLUE AND BRONZE!
DW DAY 6: Whatever Tickles Your Fancy
NOW IS THE TIME to explain how I came do be a Doctor Who fan, and in which I realize I'm actually Amy Pond.
I am a second-generation Doctor Who fan. My dad started watching Tom Baker's Doctor Who in the 1970s, a time in which very good little sci-fi television was on (according to him, aka no Star Trek). I'm note sure how much of Who he watched after that, but his interest was rekindled after the movie came out. SIDENOTE: My Dad's screen name for years was The Master, and I always wondered why until a recent rewatch of the movie that the man the master possess shares the same first name as my dad, anyways... One year at
Pin-A-Go-Go (yes, I got to Pinball Machine conventions with my Dad, and yes, I am the coolest person you'll meet), my Dad brought home the official Doctor Who pinball machine. I had heard about Doctor Who before, some good show with this fantastic Doctor that was canceled the same year I was born, but it wasn't until I played this pinball machine that I experienced Doctor Who. I spent years destroying the Daleks, getting super mad at the Master every time I lost a ball to the side rail, yelling for Ace to make it back to the Tardis in time, shuffling through the list of the seven doctors featured in the game, and always sticking with Four, listening to Seven tell me, as the companion, what needed to be done, and always be delighted when I caused enough damage to have Davrus personally challenge me at the end of a high-scoring game. It was magic, it was Doctor Who.

In those in-between years I had no way of watching the actual show because my Dad wasn't a super fan with a complete series collection of DVDs (or at the time VHS tapes), the internet was new and not so shiny yet, and I didn't live in the UK. I lived in America, a land where no one had ever heard of Doctor Who.
When the show was revived I was hesitant about watching it. It was a remake or something, wasn't it? How could it be good? I would catch glimpses of it here and there, but I soon learned that it wasn't a show you'd just watch, there were characters and arcs, and if I started I had to watch it in order.
So I met the Doctor when I was seven, and it was wonderful. But I had no way of seeing him after that, and I often thought about him. All that time I was alone, no one knew who the Doctor was, and maybe he was just imaginary from all those games I played. And then one day, when I was 17, he came back, but he had a new face, and I wasn't sure if he was my same-old raggedy Doctor. And then he seemed to disappear again, but this time I knew he'd come back because I knew he was real and I knew he was out there. And then when I was 19 he was there, and so was the TARDIS, and I got to go with him this time.
I'm Amelia Pond; I just lack the Gryffindorness, the crack, and the Rory (ummm can I not be lacking this last one, please?) And did I mention that depending on the weather, I'm sometimes a ginger?
UPDATE: I JUST DISCOVERED THERE'S AN EMULATOR FOR THE PINBALL MACHINE WHERE YOU CAN PLAY THE DOCTOR WHO PINBALL MACHINE ON YOUR COMPUTER. I WILL FIND IT AND REPORT BACK
