HP DAY 13: Favorite Debunked Theory
Most theories ended up coming true, but there were still some crazy ones out there. I only ever felt attached to two of them, and they were ones related to Deathly Hallows, when the fandom was experiencing an overdoes of theorycrack.
Though, I will always love the Trevor is the Half-Blood Theory me and the millionaires conjured up back in the day when the WB threads were where it was at. Hey Trevor, what are you doing suspiciously in that girl's bathroom at the end of book two? What, book six will have something to do with something Harry learned in book two? OMG there's an ad on yahoo that has a toad with a crown on it. TREVOR IS THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE! None of us took it seriously, but those were good times.
But favorite two legit theories were the Time Turner Theory and the Antipodes Theory.
I really like the research that backed up the Antipodes Theory, but I my first instinct was that the dragon on the Deluxe DH cover was just blind. A week later everyone was talking about Antipodes and how the Opal-Eye was native to Australia (the antipodes of Britain). So always trust on instinct; that's how I didn't have to worry about Hagrid dying despite all the chaos at the beginning of seven (after surviving six, there was no way he was going to die).
As for the Time Turner Theory, it was first mentioned on PotterCast in, at least I think, a mailbag segment. And it caught hold. Since Prisoner of Azkaban we've been wondering what really happened the night James and Lily died, and who was really there. We got to see the it in DH, but there was no new information, no big secret revealed. So that was a disappointment after being excited by such a theory.
Looksl ike it appeared in PotterCast 72:

Is this really a surprise, after telling you guys that the way I was introduced to Doctor Who was through a pinball machine where all I did was kill Daleks? So my excitement when I watched the episode "Dalek" was extremely high because I realized that when everyone watched it, especially in the states, that they had no idea what a Dalek was, and in the episode, only the Doctor knew. There was a lot a stake, and it was all because of one Dalek. So to say I'm disappointment by the treatment of the Daleks since season three is an understatement. I was both sad and angry because of the Victory of the Daleks incident, so much so, that I vowed that day to write my own Dalek episode, but that's a question for another day (it's on the list and everything).
