I have never heard anyone describe pleasure in that way. That was a bit of a jolt! It really resonated with me and my pleasure deficient life. No matter how much I am responsible for my own happiness, happiness is still not pleasure and engaging in the crazy dance of the persuit of pleasure is deficient.
I do find more happiness in a certain sorrow than in pleasure. Sorrow (not depression, not regret or fear or anger), when it's a little bit melancholy is so peaceful. And, of course, you can't experience the goodness, it can't be trusted without it.

I just wish I was stuck in the sorrow and not the despair right now. The despair feels pretty fruitless too
