Day Six: Poll Position (Voice/ Text Poll)

Mar 11, 2009 17:16

Harry Lockhart here. I'm thinking that if I want to make money in a slightly more legitimate fashion than..well, my normal method, I kind of have to have a job. But as the Ramones once said, it's not my place in a nine to five world. Just don't see me doing office work, you know how it is, would probably end up destroying a copier machine with a ( Read more... )

this won't end well, ticky box, polls, for fun and profit, public, detective work, harry lockhart, voicemail, no fourth wall, not a real detective

The sixth choice from the top: is it meant to be somehow witty or amusing, or is there some other implication there?

Oh. Ohcrapohcrapohcrapgoingtodie It's just a phrase, you know, that means like, it's totally obvious, so why ask the question in the first place? Where I'm from. Anyway. That sort of thing. Yeah.

And such an interesting turn of phrase it is, too.

Well. You know. Kids in the sixties, reading books, throw in a few swear words, and we have a new catchphrase. It's practically Frodo Lives--

Oh, man. Don't tell me, he's here, too. Great. Me here, and I forgot my library card.

Well, they're supposed to be. You know. Makes it unexpected when I succeed. I mean, not that I don't succeed, but, you know, makes people underestimate me. It's strategery--strategy.

No~, I know they're supposed to be. I mean I like all of them~.

What kind of detective work do you do~?

Oh, that's great. Thanks! It won't help me, like, pick one, but thanks a lot.

Oh, I solved a murder case a while back, and a...few since then, but mostly, I just do whatever you ask. Want to spy on a cheating husband, sure, want to figure out of your boss is skimming off the top, sure. I'm a Jack of all trades. Well, Harry of all trades.

Well, I figure if I do a, you know, good enough job with this detective--investigating stuff, the name is not really that important. Besides, it's given power to the people, sticking it to the man.

Just a little.

And how exactly does it do that?

Because the people get to decide the agency name. It's like audience participation, or voting! Democracy in action! A lot more patriotic words that work in a high school essay!

Well, yeah, I noticed the competition bit, and maybe I'm trying too hard, but it's not like I can go stealing---well, it's not like I can go just name it Spyatron or something.

Oh, believe me, I know that part, too. I think I got paid more working at the mall.

Considering Sherlock Holmes up there took...um, issue with one of those choices? I think I can take green-sweater-guy.

Could be worse, I guess. Although that sounds a little like a series of pornos, X-Factor. And no, don't ask how I'd know, you partner up with some people and you learn a whole lot you didn't before, trust me.

You know. Reference some kid's TV show, figure you get some votes for that. Or something. It's just a shout out, seriously.

Sure. You'll definitely get business with a name like that. Right before Nickelodeon sues you for all you've got.

Please, honey, it's Disney that'd sue me before Nickelodeon. Everyone knows that.
