so, the past several days...
last weekend, my sister was out of town in Cali for a percussion competition, and got to miss ~all the fun~ at our house. we had to do an overhaul on the backyard as preparation for having it dug up to put in a new leech field for our septic system, which hasn't had a problem before... like ever. why do we have a problem now? our new(ish) neighbors re-landscaped their yard, and have been over-watering to the point where it overflows onto our property, which is illegal, and we've asked them to stop repeatedly. now they get to pay for all our repairs! (also, karma: most of their drought-resistant plants are dead or dying from over-watering.)
Monday was inventory! ...we had a power surge that overloaded the power systems in the mainframe that supports and transmits to our cash register, and more importantly, our inventory guns. after a couple hours, everything was back up and running, but we were behind schedule. AND THEN. the deli clogged and overloaded the store's drainage pipes, causing their department and ours to flood, courtesy of the way the drains are set up :c we had to close for a couple hours, but at least things got cleaned up and as a bonus our work order for some minor maintenance got done early!
Tuesday was normal, if extremely busy, but that's a good thing! we got to do a coffee tasting and sold out of all our clearance items \o/ it makes things so nice for switching out to new promotions. I also had to do a minor correction on our inventory, but that isn't a surprise considering the computer issues we had (two items failed to send in our supply count).
Wednesday I worked with our problem barista (can't multitask to save her life, and keeps screwing up her beverage routines) and then our closing barista called out sick... on the one day we had nobody else to cover her shift. sent problem barista home early, then had her come back to work half the late shift and close early so we didn't rack up overtime hours. thankfully I got nearly everything done early for her, so there wasn't anything to screw up =__= then it was off to run errands and go to bell rehearsal for Palm Sunday.
Thursday was my day 'off,' but I had things to mail, car maintenance, and birthday things to do for my mom (I was also woken up by a text message from
yukitsukihana about keldeo things ;D). took my sister to look at dress patterns for her prom, priced things, and wound up getting all the supplies for $75! we also hit up two jewelers for my mom's gifts (blue topaz necklace + earring set instead of aquamarine, plus some pieces with blue turquoise and coral - some of my mom's favorite stones), as well as the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall to hunt for toy/miniature sewing machines, which she's now collecting.
sick barista called in again, making things at work chaotic again. thankfully, we had other baristas working as extras in other departments, so they got pulled to split her shift. I didn't have to miss Easter bell rehearsal!
Friday! order and shipment day, beginning of our busy weekend... got everything ordered, took care of a hoard of customers, then went to grab our shipment. we were sent double the amount of several large items (espresso, regular coffee, frappuccino), so that was super awesome trying to fit everything into our tiny storage room. repair guys came to do maintenance on espresso machine #1, noticed espresso machine #2 wasn't working - it hasn't been since we got it, despite several work orders, so we just turned it off and ignored it. turns out that it wasn't connected and set up correctly, and no other repair guy has noticed this for a year :|
so they fixed it, not that it matters because in two weeks both machines are being replaced by a newer, more efficient machine, plus we never need two machines anyway (I can do ~$250 worth of drinks in under an hour on just one machine, and more if needed).
then sick barista came in, whined for a couple hours, and went home. fortunately, we had another barista in the store again. I was driving my sister to percussion rehearsal in Peoria, so I couldn't have come in even if we had wanted to take that over-time hit.
we did presents, birthday dinner, and cake for my mom later on, which was nice~
Saturday I opened, we were super busy, fun stuff. came home, cleaned, and decided to put up my last new shelf. unfortunately for me, it was a sucktastic design (top and bottom sections were connected by metal pins that just sat there... not screws or nails or bolts) and long story short, shit fell on my arm and I have a giant bruised lump on my wrist :( I couldn't play bells this morning, and my mom insisted I go to urgent care today to make sure I didn't fracture anything. I spent a couple hours there instead of getting to see my sister's percussion performance, and am out $125 for a bruised bone.
anyway, the $125 wasn't too bad, I guess, since I had the money anyway. yay, re-padded savings account! I feel like I've been good about my spending so far this year, aside from lapras. haha.
I also have all of my rapidash collection set up again, now taking up two shelves! though half the second shelf is my spares XD I've still got to set up my drifloons again, but I'm holding off in favor of putting all the other things in my room away, since I'd moved stuff around to re-arrange shelves. it's interesting that all my floon figures fit in the tins I've acquired, with the exception of the drifblim jakks I've got out of package (the other jakks I have are mint in package - I'm nuts, I know XD).
Keldeo shelf is also started! I've got the PC clearfile, two sparkly clearfiles from Pokemon Fan, two magnets from Pokemon Fan (with an extra Kyurem if anyone wants him), two copies of Pokemon Fan as well for all the pretty merch features and flat goodies, handkerchief, dice bag, pen, pencil, stickers and DS stickers (two sets, so I can use some!). I asked JList about CoroCoro and was able to order the April issue from them, so yay! and this month a bunch of tcg things and FIGURES are coming out. SO EXCITING. I think the only thing I don't have preordered right now is the MPC (possible to preorder, anyway... I don't think I can preorder Tomy things anywhere). I've got to hunt down PC things that come out this month, too :D
