I remember when I complained about using the Heart of the Ocean here, but you were absolutely right to keep it (more or less) in. The image of Cas wearing both Balthazar's heirloom and Dean's samulet is just perfect, binding him to both of them. It's a fabulous parallel between the two relationships.
