Aiding free speech in Iran

Jun 16, 2009 15:06

It's a small thing, but something we can do to help. Iranian Security is looking for bloggers on Twitter using location and time zone searches. Floks change their Twitter settings to make their location Tehran and time zone GMT +3:30. If the whole of Twitter is Iranian it monkeywrenches that search tactic.

Meme this up and spread it around.

Idea was from here

http://reinikainen.co.uk/2009/06/iranelection-cyberwar-guide-for-beginners/

but the account has been suspended.

Nioc Pitney's liveblogging on HuffPo is pretty comprehensive, he's on top of this stuff.

From there: Iranian Security is texting people they find this way with "you are participating in protest" as a scare tactic.
