how come, when you are trying to sing, or write lyrics, you do your best work while taking a shower? and by the time you get out and near a paper, you forget everything you had while soaping yourself off. when ever i am in a position where i have no distractions, a place to purely just think, i am always away from anything to jot down notes. and ( Read more... )

well, thats cool...but it doesnt work if you are washing your hair in the middle of working out the lyrics, or a consummate shower masturbator, now does it?!!

i don't think a chronic shower masturbator is really all that concerned about his shower songwriting ability, do you?

we are very much in need of a new musical style that will hang around for more than five minutes without getting boring.

damnit.

i'm just kind of depressed, as i am still a huge fan of the music coming out 10-20 years ago. you know, the bands adn styles that formed this scene, and now so few people seem to remember or enjoy a song that formed the style they profess to follow. as i said, i hear more old school industrial at goth clubs or death rock clubs.
with the new stuff, it just seems so homogenized. bland with sameness. "pastuerized ebm anyone?" even if a good band come out, they are lost under the pile of shit that already clutters teh store shelves, and gets a half-hearted, jaded dance out of the club kids.

hm *shrug* maybe i'm jaded, and a bit of an elitist...

there are a lot of things that bother me about the current state of the music industry. i don't even know where to begin to list them. this sounds to me like a drunken conversation waiting to happen.

i have a really hard time with music because my tastes are SO diverse that the word elitist seems inappropriate in my case. i have been called a pretencious music snob before -- by the music director at my station, which made me happy. you can trust me when I say that there are interesting things happening in some musical genres, but it will never be anything you will hear at a club or on 99.99% of radio stations. and that is the biggest part of the problem, damnit.

EBM does sound like a preservative. or a social disease. a reason to use condoms and gas masks.

you just gave me my holloween costume. gas mask and condom!!! not only will it be fun, but a social commentary on top.

hm, i listen to a good variety of music, but i think i will always come back to dark fucked up electronics. so while i will concurrently tout tool and tom waits and peter gabriel as awesome musicians, i will always relate myself back to skinny puppy in some fashion.

but i really don't even pay attention to the music industry. i like so little pop music, and that seems to be 99.9% of everything coming out, that its just not worth my time to pay attention to.

i know some people that really keep up on certain styles of music, adn i have my sources of info, so i am pretty content with just looking till i find a good new band. they all seem to be power noize for some reason. its nice to see noise starting to incorporate more styles and instrumentaion in their sets. or else that style would stagnate pretty soon too.
