Cherry no more....

"Black Cherry".....formerly known as "Wild Cherry".... my 1985 Ford Crown Victoria Ltd., with it's fur and flashing lights trimmed interior, crucifix and masonic symbol blazoned exterior, it's comfortable and spacious seating, and it's sound system whose net worth is multiple times the car's bluebook value.... is gone.

She fought hard near the end, but a wiring short seemed to be the final nail in the coffin. After the "electrical stroke" she had no brake lights, fuel gauge, stereo, or speedo/tach. It was time to let her go. The engine would still run, but I could see from the dull lifeless headlights that it was a persistent vegetative state. Like a mortician I removed all the keep-able items, and prepared her for burial. When the flatbed tow truck arrived like a noisy, hulking hearse, I felt a pang of sadness in my gutty-wuts. She had served me well. I remember the day I bought her, for $350. I wanted a car that would last me about a year, and the six she gave me more than accommodated. As the tow truck pulled away, I pocketed the $50 the driver gave me, and I felt dirty. But I reminded myself that this was not like selling her body off for medical experiments. Her parts were going to be used to extend the lives of other Crown Victorias...but the guilt remained. As I saw Cherry's grill disappear around the edge of my building for the last time I though I could hear her faintly honking for help, as if to say: "I'm not dead yet! I'm not dead yet!". But I knew it was my imagination trying to cope with the last stages of the grieving process. By the time I had taken the elevator ride down one floor to the underground parking garage, I had accepted the loss and was ready to move on. And so...without further delay...I proudly present.... my new Jeep Grand Cherokee:

CHIEF!

(full name: Chief Grand Cherokee)

(may not be exactly as shown)

Yes I have gone 'Injun.

The leather seats, high riding profile, All-time 4-wheel drive, and power-everything has really shown me what I was missing out on. The accessories are too many to list, and I already have a new Kenwood mp3 deck in place hooked up to the stock 8-speaker system. Once the subs are in, the thumping from my dual 12" tom-toms shall echo across the planes like a mighty war-drum.

Here is a pic of me driving in my new whip:

Well.... you get the idea...
