Im so sorry to hear about your father. I know how it is to block things out. Its safer that way.
I find refuge in my writing also. I have written almost fourty songs. Thats my real passion, I just sit at the piano for hours playing out my emotions (until my fingers bleed, then I stop)

Wow, I wish I could play the Piano. I used to play Flute + Clarinet but I quit after a few years.
