Fair Bastille Day to all!

...but you know what? Robespierre was kinda a hypocrite. I'm just saying... you know I'm on the royals' side right? *hides from militant Robespierre fangirls at historical_love* But anyway, today marks the beginning of one of my favorite periods of history!

made-up holidays, history

Hey, dude, remember me? We were friends on your old journal. For, like, months, I was all "Where the hell is renegade_queen? Did she die?" Today, I look back on your old journal, and I feel very dumb.

Add me, eh? It's okay if you don't; I can just stalk you from afar.

Hi! I remember you of course. But you know what, I'm about to switch journals again actually... so I'll add you on my new one. Okay?

I remember wondering what Bastille Day was after reading the book "The Sweetest Fig" in Mrs. Jacoby's class...

It's when the revolutionaries tore down the Bastille - a French prison - in protest of the royal government. It was pretty much, in my opinion, the start of the French Revolution.
