Nick made it to Greg's apartment about a half hour eariler than they had originally planned, and okay, maybe it was a little rude to show up when the other person might not be ready for you, but he couldn't bring himself to care.
He hadn't seen Greg since before he left for the conference, and he missed him.
In one hand he held a bag full of tupperware filled with food he bought from Boston Market, and it's not like he was expecting Greg to fail at the whole cooking thing, but Nick knew omelettes were about as far as his skills went. In the other hand he held a small wrapped package. He banged on the door as well as he could with the back of his hand, and waited for Greg to answer.

As Greg was attempting to dispose of the evidence of his crappy cooking job, he heard a knock at the door. Nick? He could've sworn he had more time before they had planned to meet. He ran to the door, his stomach twisting inside of him from the guilt as he wrenched it open and there was Nick, smiling and looking wonderful and kind and unassuming and Greg couldn't help but smile as well. He reached out and pulled him into a tight hug, burying his face in the older man's shoulder and breathing in his scent.

"Hey." He whispered, voice muffled by Nick's coat.

Nick allowed the bag to drop out of his hand as he wrapped his arms around Greg, grinning widely.
He brought a hand up and ran his fingers through the hair at the nape of Greg's neck. He closed his eyes, relishing the feeling of holding onto him.
"I missed you." He said softly.

Greg closed his eyes too, tightly, clutching onto Nick for dear life. "I missed you too." He whispered sadly, shifting his head so he spoke the words into the bare skin of Nick's neck. He sighed softly as he felt Nick's fingers stroke his hair, and he couldn't help but think that he didn't deserve any of this.

On that thought, he broke away, taking a few steps back so there was a good two feet between them. "Err, come in, come in." He said, somewhat awkwardly, as he walked back into his apartment, wondering how obvious the smell was. "You're early."
