I actually teared up at the picture of the monastery. Just a little. Because for a moment I could actually hear the wind that bent the trees and smell the hot stone of those walls.
It was an evocative place, especially in the high, hot wind and with all the roses fully in bloom (Turkey is the land of roses) -- but wait until you see the other places. I think one of the most moving things I've ever seen was the massive Medieval ghost city of Ani on the Silk Road. It blew my mind.
