Part 10, Turkey 2011: The Cold Blue Waters of Lake Van

Van is a strange city. Nestled between snowcapped mountains on one side and the vast Lake Van on the other, it feels as though it's set into a hidden corner of the world. Despite its size, there are virtually no recognizable brands, the population is almost completely Kurdish, as is the food, and when you're here everyone knows you're an outsider. ( Read more... )

Beautiful country, and gorgeous cats. I remember longing as a child for a Van cat, to go swimming with me (apparently they love water).

I'm glad you got to see it in person. And my thoughts and prayers are with all those in the quake aftermath. :/

I was thinking the other day that you hadnt posted for a while. I was hoping you'd been doing something fun travel-wise, and once again i have not been let down.

I have been quite well, just insanely busy with work, shoots, travel and plans to move! But they're gonna keep coming. I plan on another post this weekend.

It does for me, too! In fact, if you look at the last entry, there's an inscription on a temple that has been standing outdoors through the ages. It looks like it was chiseled yesterday.
