Those are some really interesting and profound thoughts. I heard someone else theorizing (was it the author of Fight Club, I think?) that part of the root of all of this is that within popular black culture, there are very few strong father figures. Think about it. And, I mean, that partially makes sense, since the statistics for children raised by single moms in some poorer black neighborhoods are ridiculously high, which means that a lot of people don't grow up knowing their father (or knew him as a man too irresponsible to take care of and live with his children). So without a father as a positive role model, I would imagine it's especially hard for boys to grow up to be the strong, intelligent, responsible adult in their own families. (Role models can come from elsewhere, but probably the most influential role models are in one's own family, for good or for ill.) So maybe that's another cause of the situation with few intelligent, responsbile role models in popular black culture. (There are notable exceptions, like Will Smith
