How can one month be so bad?

So, the past 30 days have been pretty okay for me. Nothing notably good or bad, just life as usual. Somehow, really bad things are constantly happening all around me. I expect to hear bad news from a friend or family member every once in a while - it's a part of life, but the past 30 days have been ridiculous. Absolutely crazy. Unthinkable, really
