I'm not really a fan of either one (I'm not really into politics) but I did think it was admirable of McCain to put his senate duties ahead of his campaign aspirations for a moment. The world doesn't stop just because its an election year.

This country is in a terrible place. And I do not think it will be better no matter who is in office.

i wish i could believe his motives are pure, but mccain has been choking answering questions about it ever since this mess started, and i feel that he's using it as a way to get out of debating obama. i agree, it would be great if there was a way these two parties could work as a team right now, but, i still want to hear what both of these guys have to say about this.

let's face it, one of them will be president, if they're not multi-tasking now, they better start. tomorrow is thursday, the debate is friday; it's not like they can't catch up with what's happening in washington on monday.

I have been waiting for the debates and would be a bit bummed if they got put on hold, but?? I don't know.. this country is in a terrible place, and I do not believe it will get 'better' anytime soon.

There are those who blame the currant state of the economy on the war, and the Bush policies, and then there are those who blame it on the Clinton administration for making it too easy for those who could not afford to buy homes to do so. And this is the aftermath. Who is right? I am not sure.

I do believe the currant state of the economy is highly due to the Fannie/Frankie takeovers... but. What do I really know?

it is, but as i said, i don't think anyone's going to fix it by friday and i am really curious to see what they have to say. as for blaming it on the clinton administration, i dunno. it's been eight years since he was in office. doesn't make sense to me, but what do i know?

we are in a terrible place, no question about it. but, i find the reaction to this proposed bailout EXTREMELY interesting. i fully expected congress to totally swallow the whole thing, and the backlash instead leads me to believe that it's going to get alot more heated as these hearings progress. if john mccain doesn't debate, my feeling is he's chicken. and he's using this crisis as an excuse to buy time til he can figure out the most popular thing to say.

i'm just not buying this altruistic shutting down the campaign to save the country thing.

nope. i think he's using this crisis, and that pisses me off.

I don't know... in my idealistic world it would be a jester of the political parties standing as one instead of the fighting and slinging crap at each other.. kind of leading the American people together.. not so divided.

I do live in my only little fantasy world though ;)

you know my affiliations. I think this is a great thing. I think that either way you look at it, they can each use this to their advantage. Obama can say that McCain is afraid to debate and should be able to multi-task. McCain can say that Obama really doesn't care and would rather put his desires before that of the common man.

Personally, i think it was wise. I am a victim of this housing shit, but still will vote McCain.

I hate, hate, HATE politics because they can be so divisive. You and I vote the opposite in presidential elections, but that doesn't affect my feelings for you as a friend. I think I kind of see politics like I see religion: people feel very strongly about their own personal beliefs and are frequently disrespectful of different beliefs, but at the end of the day I think everything boils down to the same basic stuff, and most people running for office just want to help make the country better.

I think McCain's call to delay the debate and focus on the economy is brilliant. It shows that he cares about what's going on, and I'm sure that if Obama had made that call first, he'd be roundly praised for it. People get tunnel vision when it comes to their chosen candidate and I find it rather ridiculous.

I am trying to wait for the debates before I fully make up my mind. I am leaning in my "typical" direction, but that is mainly because of the negative press.

As you know, I have suffered from the "tunnel vision" in the past, so I have been extremely careful to stay neutral on this one. Or to keep my views to my views to myself.
