Daaamn... four grand? Well, you could go digital SLR - yes, I know digital photographs aren't "real" but give it a whirl ^_^
I'm not a big fan of square formats - like movies made before 1953, with few exceptions, I can't watch. Widescreen/rectangles FTW. They just seem much more panoramic and ... pleasing.
I felt the same way when I found this old 8mm camera at my uncles house. I was just like...OOOOOOOO....YUMMMMMM!!! I want to learn how to use it and start making some films with that.

In other news, I didn't even know cameras like that still existed. Where would you get the film anyway?

but it's a classic medium format camera... twin lens reflex. you can buy 120 or 220 film at most professional photo stores.
if you've ever seen holga cameras, or pictures that are square (not cropped), they use the same kind of film.
but this baby is like, 4,000 dollars. =[
