okay i really need everyone's opinion on this. I am making a portfolio website for a summer art program at MICA I'm trying to get a scholarship to, and so I was working on a layout. I thought I kind of liked this one, and I showed it to a few people asking for their opinions, and they seemed to like it, too, but my mother sees it and just stares in ( Read more... )

it's fantastic. Your mom is just used to a different style, the people at MICA would love it, without a doubt. The stuff they send out to possible applicants is the same sort of style.

ps: i dig the tree... but not the flowers. i think there should at least be something in that corner, it stands out.

I really love it, <333 but I think that the thing with your name and the sticks behind overpowers everything. Maybe you could do a background behind your name sort of like the white one behind the birds? I'm really sorry your mom hates it.. I would be mad too :( Good luck!! <3333

The first one definitely. And do not listen to your mother. come on, now. I don't think the bottom sketches really add to it. Definitely without. Without it kind of has this cool industrial look going, and with just looks kinda cutesy and hasty. I may be the only one of this opinion, but I am the LAW* around here, alright?

MICA really likes that kind of stuff, i think it looks really good. the second is a winner.
is this what youre going to ask them to look at instead of slides?

i was going to go to that program, but i decided not to at the last minute.
